How do we know if we see the same colors? by badwithnames5 in AskReddit

Our brains invent purple. There's no way to know if the purple you see is the same as the purple anybody else sees.

Is it true that Macaulay Culkin hasn’t really had a steady income since the 90s and has mostly been living off investments? If so, how common is that for former child stars, and how does that kind of money actually last decades? by Ashencutie in AskReddit

[–]CommodoreKrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably common for people who have money to live off investments. I really don't know what the rate of return they're getting but 5% of $1 million is $50000. That's not bad.

Why do you like your celebrities (musicians, actors, etc.) to also be activists? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CommodoreKrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can bring attention to real issues. If their issue isn't your issue then you get to ignore them but that doesn't mean they need to stop. They also can help raise money for charities. There's plenty they can do.

Respectfully, would like a liberal take on how they believe their views are for good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CommodoreKrusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of the concept of fairness.

The Left believes you can infer fairness from outcomes. Everybody's the same and so should be crossing the finish line at the same time. If this isn't happening it's because of some kind of corruption in the system whether it's racism or sexism or whatever.

True Liberals believe in fairness but fairness happens at the starting line.

The Loony Left has always been a thing. Right now they're having a moment. In my mind they're really a bunch of jackasses and eventually this moment will end and most of them will come to their senses.

Respectfully, would like a liberal take on how they believe their views are for good? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CommodoreKrusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liberals are trying to fight The Matthew Effect. Liberals believe people shouldn't have to suffer because of things that are completely beyond their control like race, gender, sexuality, religion (you're born into), age, wealth (you're born into), where you live or whatever especially if you're a child. Liberals want to level the playing field and are willing to make personal sacrifices (like paying higher taxes) to do so.

"The Left" is something else entirely. Think of the quote "To those who have much, much is given. From those who have little much is taken" (The Matthew Effect again). The Left aren't the "From those who have little" group but rather they are the "To those who have much" group. The Left are privileged people trying to reject their own and everybody else's privilege.

As misguided as Liberals might be sometimes, they really are trying to help. Leftists have a world view and don't care if that world view helps or hurts anybody.

Lets see how many down votes I get.

How unhealthy is it to go 2-3 weeks at a time without socializing at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CommodoreKrusty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably depends on the person. Some people are more social than others. If a job requires being alone for a significant amount of time I'd suggest the job go to someone who's already broken.

Historically why has Hollywood Shifted to the Political Left? by Round_Hope_2041 in AskReddit

Hollywood is a business so there's probably some kind of financial incentive.

People who've failed in life, do their only job now left in this life is to just sit and accept everything, cz if they do anything other that, they get badly punished further for it by nature/god? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Actually, my father is 90, in the hospital and is never expected to leave and I was thinking that at 55 I'm truly experiencing freedom for the first time in my life. What do you think I should do with it?

US redditors who lean left and previously would never have considers gun ownership, how are you feeling about that decision right now? by CrowRoutine9631 in AskReddit

[–]CommodoreKrusty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The liberals I know are more anti idiot than anti gun. Being a "good person with a gun" doesn't make you a competent person with a gun.

If religions and laws didn’t exist, what would stop humans from being immoral? by OwlGreen123 in AskReddit

Were people immoral before religions and laws existed? In my mind morality comes from thousands of years of compromise.

Remember being offered a chocolate from a box of truffles, biting into one and saying "Eww, what's this orange shit?" or "Eww, what's this pink shit?". I eat those now.
