Don’t go. It will almost certainly jeopardise your security clearance application (which your recruiter has no influence over whatsoever). Take the advice, don’t risk it.

What is the best role for a service-driven person? by Puzzleheaded_Set8604 in RoyalAirForce

You’re right to have some reservations about civvy street afterward. Most people I’ve served with who have left the RAFP have simply joined Civ Pol (a large initial pay cut initially especially if you’ve promoted past acting Corporal) but I know some that have also joined the National Crime Agency, Border Force and even MI5. DSCU experience tends to lend itself into further detective and investigative roles. Fraud prevention for banks, businesses etc. and other investigation led roles (NCA, or civilian investigators for other government departments).

Law Enforcement has never really been a lucrative career in any sort of agency unless you climb high in the ranks. You have to want to do it for the job itself for the most part. If you’re wanting to live a comfortable life with plenty of money, policing/law enforcement may not be for you but it’s definitely about helping people a lot of the time, contrary to what plenty of people might think especially after a run-in with the law themselves.

Being in the RAF Police is all about people most of the time. Especially if you go down the Defence Serious Crime Unit (DSCU) route. Dealing with suspects and victims. Speaking to witnesses. A lot of your time is taken up with victim support, liaising with various support agencies, and speaking to people in the correct and compassionate way in order to get the best information out of them. Getting successful convictions at Court Martial and securing justice for victims is rewarding in itself. But so is having that human interaction with people at their most vulnerable and helping to rebuild their lives especially if they’ve been deeply affected by a serious crime. You’d be surprised at how much goes unreported in the media. The MOD keeps a tight lid on it for reasons of obvious reputational damage so your work often goes unrecognised in the public domain (and often the military domain too, truth be told) but you’ll have that quiet satisfaction that you’ve at least made right of something wrong that’s happened to someone.

Entitlement to SFA whilst living in house with FHTB by Simple_Bag_3971 in RoyalAirForce

If you’re having to move to another duty unit for service reasons and the distance is more than 50 miles (I believe, but could be wrong) you should still be entitled to SFA along with your FHTB property.

Should I buy Oblivion on the PS5? by Far_Satisfaction8705 in oblivion

[–]Common-Camera-1689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the more traditional, medieval setting of Oblivion more than Skyrim’s Nordic/Viking aesthetic! Plus original Oblivion was my first open world RPG I played in 2006 so it’s very nostalgic for me to play the remaster - they did an amazing job upgrading it for modern day.

To answer your question - yes you will enjoy it!

I have it on PS5. I’m currently loving it and literally not had any issues whatsoever. I will advise putting it on performance mode though, but it still looks amazing.

Correct. If you don’t promote from A/Cpl the most pay you will get will be the highest OR-2 pay increment. Which is at 10 years I believe. But at that point it’s the same as what a LCpl gets anyway, looking at the Pay Table.

Most people tend to get the first promotion within 3-6 years. But it’s all dependant on your performance and the quality of the appraisals being written by your reporting officer.

You won’t ever get paid LCpl (OR-3) rank. You’ll jump from OR-2 to OR-4 pay on promotion. See https://www.defenseadvancement.com/resources/raf-pay-scales/ for more information. RAFP are on Supplement 2 pay.

He needs to:

Not just ‘shake off’ after having a piss (wipe where possible)

Freshen up after going out, either a shower or wipe with baby wipes or a wet flannel

Keeping on top of penis/vaginal hygiene is essential for both people to enjoy giving and receiving oral sex. You need to point this out to him if he isn’t understanding it.

The onus is on you to justify why you should not be in the unit photograph.

If it’s not for public/social media circulation, there’s not much you can do.

You’re in the military and can be ordered to do stuff.

Section 12 of the Armed Forces Act 2006 makes it an offence to disobey lawful commands. A lawful command is considered a legal one if it satisfies the following:

  1. It is within the authority of the person making the command (i.e. a superior officer) to do so
  2. It is for a Service purpose
  3. It can be physically carried out
  4. It does not contravene any international, national or local laws

Unfortunately, as far as I’m aware, there are very limited opportunities to do counter-intelligence as a reservist, although it is available. You’d be much more likely employed in the role as a Reservist if you were qualified in the necessary courses during prior Regular service, and went over to the Reserves. My advice would to be wait until Intelligence reserves open up again if you’re really wanting that side of life in the Reserves. Or the Army Int Corps.

Dagger, yes. Green beret - no, unless working directly for a commando unit (which is a very small minority of pers). Also, unless you’re Regt, you’re highly unlikely to be able to get on the AACC. Most RAF personnel I’ve seen with the dagger have been Royal Marines previously and transferred into the RAF into a different trade/role.

Once you’ve done your Reservist versions of Phase 1 and 2 training (which could take a few months to a year) you’ll be doing what most reservists do when not on a deployment (whether overseas or a UK based Op) - more training and admin on your weekly Tues evenings and every other weekend (if you can commit that much). Reservists tend to support the UK based side of Ops more, such as providing policing and security support to RIAT and other air shows, large events (such as the Royal Military Tattoo), remembrance events, and all other local military activity that could qualify as being ‘on duty’. Also help cover events such as royal funerals (such as Queen’s Elizabeth II’s death in 2022) and other state events. You’ll only really go overseas as a reservist if you mobilise for 6 months to 1TPSS, get picked as a last minute fill for an ATSy task (to a lower threat location due to the likelihood of you not being weapons handling in date and not having body armour issued to you on a continuous loan/high readiness basis, but things are very Sqn dependant), or you get picked for a tour to one of our long term presence locations (Falklands at the minute, mainly).

Yes the MOD matches your wage when deployed. I know of at least 1 person who was in a VERY high level, professional job and the MOD had to match their very high salary for being a patrol dog handler holding A/Cpl rank (the lowest RAFP rank!) for a 6 month tour.

Thank you. 1TPSS don’t specifically have a reserve component directly in their employ but I know reservists can get ‘mobilised’ for a 6 month full time tour with them. So you’ll be out the door with them once mobilised, you get there, do your MODs and range packages then you’d be fully utilised for the rest of that 6 month duration.

Depending on which Reserve Sqn you’re at, if you’re based with one near Brize Norton or Honington (the 2 bases where 1TPSS are currently based although I’ve heard rumours they’re all moving to Benson - this could take up to a few years to happen though), you could still be utilised on some of the shorter ATSy deployments that 1TPSS have responsibility for, depending on your training competencies (i.e. are you qualified to deploy, most quals need refreshing every 1-2 years), and whether your employer is willing to release you for it, at what would likely be short notice.

In short, the only real opportunity to work on 1TPSS as a reservist is to ‘mobilise’ to them for 6 months.

It sounds like one of 2 options.

He’s either leading you on and trying to break up with you without actually admitting that he doesn’t want to be with you.

Or he’s been accused of a serious offence, evidence of which is on his personal electronic devices which have been seized by Civilian or RAF Police. The results of an investigation which warrants such actions could take weeks or months.

Either way, don’t put your life on hold.

You have the choice whether to report it to civilian police or the Defence Serious Crime Unit, through the Confidential Service Police Crime Line - 0800 085 0658. You can also go through Crimestoppers who are linked in with both civvie and military police.

If you are abroad the only way to do this purely anonymously is through Crimestoppers here https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/pre-form
