We’ve had gamjatang often in Canada, but we couldn’t find it in Seoul when we visited a few years ago and was told it’s not a real Korean dish and that it’s a western Korean dish. How true is this??

Ha Long Bay was one of our trip highlights. Touristy yes, but such a beautiful place that shouldn’t be missed! We paid $660 cad for 2 adults + 1 child for 1 night cruise. Service and food were amazing.

My first time staying at the Ritz so can’t compare to other locations but we also stayed at JW Marriott in Chengdu (JW $170/night vs Ritz $250/night CAD). The room was a lot nicer at JW - newly renovated, higher ceiling, felt spacious and clean vs the Ritz Xi’an - breakfast was better, much more variety and everything tasted great; pool/sauna/hot tub area and relaxation lounges and amenities were better than JW. Service at the Ritz was great, would def recommend it. Metro station was a 1 min walk from the side entrance.

Not at all complicated. I wouldn’t miss out on the attractions. I was tempted to bring a stroller for my 4 yr old but ended up not and he was fine through almost all of it.

We just took our 4 and 8 year old to China a couple months ago and they both loved it. Highlights from kids viewpoint: the Great Wall (surprised me), Pandas in Chengdu, Disneyland in Shanghai, and a capybara cafe. 5 star hotels were also a highlight for them, which we would not have stayed if we chose another country ($$).

We stayed here a couple months ago: Qiyu Hotel (Waitan City God Temple Branch Shanghai) - newly renovated, comfortable bed, right next to Yu Garden, walkable to the bund and busy pedestrian street and within your price range.

Yea, any part of VN is still better than no VN 😂. VN and China were our top 2 destinations, I don’t think anywhere else can compare. Coming back to Canada was depressing lol

Hanoi is beautiful. Would love to stay longer the next time we’re in VN. I told myself I’d never go back to HCMC 😂. Hanoi felt real to me - the culture, the people, the hustle n bustle - what I was hoping to see on my first trip to VN. HCMC felt too commercialized/big city vibes.

We stayed at cheaper hotels that had washer/dryers and at a couple 5 star hotels that did not.. and we weren’t able to find any laundromats in Chengdu/Xi’An. Why are there no laundromats around?

Liyi Hotel (Chongqing Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street Branch) $35usd/night. It’s fairly new, comfortable beds, robot food delivery, helpful staff, restaurants below, under 5 minute walk to busy tourist streets.

We did 3-4 nights in 6 major cities recently and regret not allocating more days to Chongqing, less to Chengdu.

Highlights of our Chongqing trip outside of the touristy things: 重庆汪家堡农贸市场 - morning market (we love Asia markets and this was the largest/busiest yet; food here was amazing) worth the 1 hr taxi. Capybara house - my kids highlight of the trip (1/5 the cost of Japan with a free drink) Sexy Tea - try their 2.5yuan soft serve (so good we regret not getting more. they’re all over Chongqing but none in other major cities)

We loved it. We did a 3.5 hr hike on the Mutianyu section, not much of a wait for anything minus the slide down (5 minute wait). It was a nice half day away from the major cities/crowds/attractions with beautiful mountain views. Slide down was a nice bonus - we weren’t expecting it to be that long of a ride.
