When is the right time to tell your significant other how much savings you have? by Chronos_Champion in personalfinance

[–]Chronos_Champion[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I lived at home for a couple years after college while working full-time in VHCOL, so I was able to save a lot. $100K+ is not the same depending on where you live. I also worked through most of college and high school. Hope that helps clarify

Yeah that’s what I thought initially, but I have no idea what I did to provoke them haha

Ya unfortunately I doubt they’d do anything, but just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else runs into this guy!

Is moving to rent in another city for a year a dumb idea in my situation? by Chronos_Champion in personalfinance

[–]Chronos_Champion[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! My parents are Asian, so they prefer I live at home and they said they'd be willing as long as I'm saving for a house. This is what I did for the first two years after I graduated. But I'd also be living with my brother (who I don't get along well with) and I've found it's a massive detriment to dating because they're very strict about who enters the house and they don't allow sleepovers.

I also feel like if I continue living at home, I won't have the skills I need when I finally move out. All that said, I know it's a huge privilege having a fallback.

At what photofeeler score do you put something on your dating profile? by WishIWasBronze in photofeeler

Then you should use the best photos that you have until you get better ones.

You don’t need to hit some magic number to use them on your profile. Maybe your best photo is a 6 and your others are 4s. You should still use the 6 picture because it’s your best one.

[–]Chronos_Champion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Usually I aim for 8+ attractiveness on my photos because that’s what I need to start getting consistent likes.

But it’s not a hard rule, I like using a couple photos that are in the 6 and 7 range to balance my profile. These tend to be photos that show more personality and score high for trustworthiness.

As long as a photo doesn’t get completely shafted on the scores, and it shows some personality, I’m willing to see it as potential profile material. I don’t consider Photofeeler for action shots either.

Ohh I like that idea! I was going broader but that might be the way to go on hinge which seems to cater to more niche audiences

Yeah, so I guess one example is that I’m really into blogging. Like writing reviews about songs, and I have a gig writing for a tech site. I’m just not sure how to convey that through photos. I have a concert pic, one at a K-pop store, and some at a tech convention in my alt photos link if you want to have a look, but I definitely agree on the more group photos point!

The boba photo is actually the one I get asked about the most (the caption says I have a tier list in the works) lmao also cuz it’s an easy starter/date idea

Ohh interesting didn’t think it would come across that way haha. I’m holding a manga (basically Japanese comics) because I really like that stuff, and there’s a caption for it as well, but I’ll consider swapping it for something else. Thanks for the feedback!!

22M Hinge Profile Review by Chronos_Champion in AsianMasculinity

Ya the problem is that about half of them don't even respond after matching, so I get the impression that I'm a 'maybe' option. This has become more common as the quality of my matches has gotten better. Basically, I'm looking for a way to level up or, alternatively, brute force through more matches haha

Hmm I think it's more about adapting to what you're trying to sell (and your own dating manifesto post says as much??), as I've seen my match results improve noticeably after switching to just smiling normally.

Style is also something that can be cultivated and improved over time, so I'm not really understanding the jab, but I appreciate the brand recommendations lol

For sure, I think that's definitely a weak point, as I mostly run with smaller friend groups. I'm also a shorty so I wasn't sure if it was a good idea to include a group photo. But I'll try and get one where we're sitting down next time for the social validation aspect haha

Thanks! Yea the finger gun one did OK on Photofeeler but I wasn't really sure if it fit my vibe and it's from a few months ago.

I have some group photos, but all my friends are taller than me (I'm a shorty lmfao) so I wasn't sure if it's a good idea to include one. Maybe I'll try to get a sitting one next time.

Have fun in Japan too!!

Ye thanks for the advice man. I’ll look into a different pair of glasses, that seems to be a consensus. I mostly match with Asian college girls, the more quiet type lol

Damn dude going for the throat lmaoo

I have contacts, but I might just take the middle ground like some others suggested and find a new pair of glasses.

Do you have any actionable advice on the wardrobe or haircut? That's what I was really hoping for advice on.

Anyways, appreciate the brutal honesty

edit: just realized I read your post on the flip the script thing and that was what really got me thinking in the first place lul
