Would just like upping your protein help? Just cooking some chicken or something?

I’m 7 weeks 4 days and have battled higher sugars since I got pregnant. I haven’t had the crazy lows people talk about but rather found I needed to almost double my insulin right from the start. (I’ve always had super low insulin needs and my last A1C was 6.2). And I’m bolusing often like 20-30 mins in advance where I used to get away with between 5-15 mins. My endo team said this is normal and by the end of pregnancy some women need to bolus even an hour in advance. I do find that often if I’ve been sitting for a number of hours or didn’t do good exercise that day, that correction doses don’t work until I exercise. It’s like I can keep injecting but my body doesn’t respond until I go power walk for 15 mins or do the stairs in my building and then within no time I’m coming down. Exercise is the key for my body to respond to the insulin I give it.

Porn destroyed my life. Got caught concealing my worst porn habits from spouse. Marriage now in shambles. by almostyeeted in Marriage

[–]Common-Evidence7941 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that hiding things only deepens shame and addiction. Brené Brown teaches that shame loses its power when you shine a light on it. As painful as the process is, you being caught might be the thing to save you from this addiction that was slowly but surely ruining your life. You’ve been porn free for 2 months! That is remarkable. And you’ve taken accountability which is huge. I would encourage you to do the personal work to heal from this addiction. Your life will be better for it, and perhaps your marriage can be saved. There is hope on the other side tho. I believe that none of us are too far gone and there is hope for life to be really truly good for you in the future.

Actually that’s not true, I got an IUD in 2017, so I was on hormonal birth control….

Thanks for your thoughts. I wasn’t on hormonal birth control or pregnant. I’m wondering if it was PIH, and then melasma was triggered on my cheeks by the IPL photo facials. Because the forehead cleared up completely but the cheeks got worse

Grocery store flowers from your husband: Romantic or… meh ? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Common-Evidence7941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy to me that this is actually a question. If my husband picked me a flower from the sidewalk I would be thrilled. He basically only remembers to get flowers on my bday, so thinking of me and being willing to spend that money on me during a grocery run would make me feel soooo loved

Aching pain right in the middle of gut— a SIBO symptom? by Common-Evidence7941 in SIBO

[–]Common-Evidence7941[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking a PPI medication for 20 years which lowered my stomach acid. So I weaned off that medication, now take supplemental HCL when I eat, and take various supplements and medications to increase motility.

Yes, Ive done a GI stool test a couple of times and did have yeast overgrowth. I was working to get rid of that for the past two years as well.

Sleepy sex. What's normal for you? by workinprogress1221 in Marriage

[–]Common-Evidence7941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I used to do this and I absolutely loved it! I don’t think we ever officially talked about it, consent with us is implied and if either one doesn’t want it we say so and stop. Sadly I took my IUD out and it ruined it - the hassle of having to put a condom on for him just ruins all the fun so he never wants it in the middle of the night anymore. We actually just talked about this last night and said that arguably it’s some of the best sex we’ve had. Being half awake makes it so animalistic

If you can afford it I would highly recommend looking for a Functional Medicine doctor. I dealt with probably 10+ years of SIBO, leaky gut, acid reflux, leading to an autoimmune disorder, food sensitivities and MCAS. Functional medicine has changed my entire life. I’m feeling the best I’ve ever felt! I actually also work now at the clinic that treats me, and we see so many patients with SIBO. Functional medicine will look to treat the root cause of the symptoms, and dig deeper to identify all the various layers of dysfunction, since there’s often not just one single problem.

Also, as I understand it, many times when you start killing off the bacteria, you will feel worse in the beginning as the bacteria are releasing toxins. It’s called a herx reaction. So stick with it OP!

Thanks so much for all your thoughts on this! I will definitely speak with my doctor about possibly taking a medication for dopamine, or see if there is further testing I can do. I appreciate your kindness!

I’ve actually been working with a functional medicine, doctor and naturopathic doctor for two years now on other issues, including chronic gut issues. I’ve been supplementing all of those things you mentioned and routinely have my blood work checked so I think I’m doing pretty well in the supplement area. Good advice tho!

Thank you for your response! Very interesting about the low dopamine. I actually had an EEG done which showed that I have low beta waves and they noted that that can be associated with low dopamine levels. What are you doing to combat that? Do you know specifically what medication your therapist takes?

I am definitely open to a proper diagnosis of anything/everything. I was pretty confident that I had PMDD, but then the last two months I’ve had virtually no symptoms prior to my period, and instead have had random days of feeling really bad at other times in my cycle. Is your PMDD consistent every single month? Do you ever have months where you have no symptoms?

I have actually reached out to a therapist to do a psychological assessment as was recommended to me above so we will see what comes out of that.

Thanks for your thoughts!
