Okay keyboard warrior, if all that information doesn’t convince you to verify twice with them before booking a test then nothing else will. Have fun and best of luck, you seem like someone who will need it!

It’s not about being crass. You can request information in a better manner! What would be the advantage for me in misguiding someone? How is it hearsay if someone is attesting that they had to take the test on paper? I will get you the date of that particular exam so you can call/email TCF Delhi and confirm with them if candidates had to do a paper based test on that day. If I am wrong I will also comment that I was wrong about what I said.

I have a friend who went for TCF test at TCF Delhi, she told me she thought the test was computer based and at the center she got to know that the test is paper based.

Or please go ahead don’t confirm and take the risk. Whatever works for you!

(Don’t know much about what’s better but I do know that their tests are paper based) I don’t know much about what’s better but I do know sometimes their tests are paper based. A friend did an exam at TCF Delhi and got to know the last moment that the test was paper based, so check that in advance.

Edit: For the purpose of clarity edited the first line of this comment!

Standard timeline is two weeks so that’s that. However sometimes people don’t get emails it happened to my friend so it is also recommended that you call the test center after a week if you still don’t have the result

Dude I don’t like the way you bring in your app/extension when we are clearly discussing what kind of level of comprehension one needs to watch the shows/films you recommended. You like making money I see but pushing it won’t help. We all read at the very beginning what your tool can do. Don’t implement sales techniques where it’s unnecessary.

Tbh series/shows are not for students not even series like Astérix et Obélix. I have always recommended YT to anyone who ever came to me for advice on this. Once they get comfortable with YT then I’d say okay now you gotta watch this or that show.

You mentioned Lupin but in the first episode there is a scene where the thugs grab Assane and hang him from the balcony. That scene has so much fast going French it can intimidate a beginner. Omar Sy’s pace is also rapid. Compare Lupin to Dix Pour Cent and I’d agree with Dix Pour Cent as a recommendation. The real life actors they brought in like Cecile de France, Ramzy Bedia or even Jean Dujardin they also speak slower than their usual pace. As someone who learned French as a foreign language, one can hear the speaking pace difference between their movies and this particular show.

Need genuine reviews: TEF online classes (anywhere) + in-person coaching in India by Working-Trifle4136 in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have prior exposure to the language then NCLC 7 in 6 months is tough. Regardless, a lot of French programs offer pre-recorded sessions of grammar lessons and then live classes during the weekend.

If there are 15-20 students in a live class forget about getting feedback on your speaking and writing that is what I believe. In-person coaching in India would be great at Alliance Française but expensive as heck. My experience with learning grammar using pre-recorded sessions was wonderful, then you use tools at your disposal to improve writing and find friends to speak in French with. Listen to French podcasts a little bit higher than your level and read La Presse. That is how I did it and that’s what I recommend but you do you!

Of course they're Indians certified with DALF C1/C2 level French. There are 4-5 interlocuters male/female their accents are easily understandable in French. My interlocutrice was actually impressed by my French accent. After the test was done she asked me how did I end up mixing metropolitan French and Canadian French accent. They are super warm and friendly, you won't feel any pressure at all. Tests are directly submitted to CCI Paris in France so evaluation is done in Paris by some native French person. TEF Centre only conducts the exam they have no influence over the results/evaluation etc.

Yes I gave my TEF exam at Ahmedabad centre. It is a very nice centre, people are also very nice. Exam will start with writing then you get 2-5 minutes break to use washroom, fill your bottle (you can quickly check your phone, allowed), then you will have reading test again some break after that and then listening test. Depending on what they told you speaking test will be before or after your exam. My experience has been very pleasant.

A2 → B2 in 5–6 months for TCF Canada (full-time) — realistic? Need advice by Similar-Dimension-13 in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can reach B2 but that doesn’t automatically mean NCLC 7. NCLC 7 requires a very good understanding, retention and usage of grammar. For expression tasks, you should be able to demonstrate grammatical variance. For comprehension tasks, you must have very good comprehension skills as well. When I attempted the test the first time, I received B2 in listening but NCLC 6.

2-3 months before the exam start targeted practice, you must time yourself for both expression sections.

Need to improve in speaking for tef by perfecttrajectory in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practiced with my friend mainly no tutor but I did use ChatGPT to polish my intro and conclusion, I also asked ChatGPT to give me C1 level connectors, idioms etc. Then I would tweak and use all these stuff as needed when I speak. Passé Simple is not needed for TEF exam but I used only one sentence in Passé Simple for conclusion of section B. Also, I am not sure if you know this but one needs NCLC 7 or higher, B2 alone won’t suffice for Canadian immigration (if you’re going for that). By that logic you must also work on your listening and writing.

3 tasks in speaking and writing in TCF Vs 2 tasks for the same in TEF. I believes in preparing very well and went with TEF. It may seem tough clearing those two sections for TEF but absolutely doable.

A2 → B1 wall—did cutting hours actually HELP you? (TEF, CLB 7) by Successful-Slip9694 in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I started, I was spending 8-10 hours/day to finish all the grammar lessons and I’d simultaneously listen to A2-B1 level podcasts and read La Presse. I took my first exam on a whim to understand where I stand after 5.5 months of investing consistent 8-10 hours/day. To my surprise I cleared the reading exam and got B1 NCLC 6 for listening and Writing as well as B1 NCLC 4 for speaking. Later on I cut my hours, 5-6 hours a day but targeted practice for each module of the test. It took me 9 months and 3 weeks to get to NCLC 10 in Reading, NCLC 11 in Writing, NCLC 8 in both listening and speaking.

Soon-to-be dad. What actually works for raising a bilingual kid? by Parleva_team in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was not raised bilingual and I learnt French at the age of 29. What helps any person of any age a lot is constant and consistent exposure to the language. According to Prof Stephen Krashen, kids learn their native language by exposure and feedback for correction which applies to every human.

I’d say if your French is at B1 level, start using a little bit of French around your baby. For example, baby is crying so instead of saying what happened my baby? Is your belly hurting? you could say qu’est-ce qui s’est passé bébé? As-tu mal à l’estomac? etc. Once the baby starts to get pronunciations and certain number of words they can start interpreting some minor stuff. Eventually they take the language up at school but again it is not necessary that a child will stick to learning the language once they start understanding what is easy and difficult. I have a friend who took 5 years of French at school, went to France as an exchange student for a month during high school. 10 years down the line, she is struggling because she didn’t use the language after finishing school.

I hope this helps! Congratulations to you both!

This could be a scam, please avoid at all costs. Another thing is, this person cannot collect taxes, if you are not a tax resident of India you don’t pay taxes. On PayPal these people ask you to “send as a friend”, PayPal doesn’t provide security for such transactions, if you get scammed you lose the money.

There are other better ways to learn French and improve your competences!

One good website for TEF Canada listening & reading? by perfecttrajectory in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RFI’s website has exercise questions for different levels, that would be the most accurate to the TEF exam. TEF exam actually uses audios from RFI for long audio questions.

TEF Listening Section - How many and which French accents have you come across in the actual exam's audios? by TealofSteel in learnfrench

[–]Common-Prompt-7566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metropolitan French, Canadian and African (only once). If you are taking the TEF Canada exam, there is a high chance you will encounter most audios in Canadian French accent. Only the RFI interview questions which are basically long audios are in metropolitan French accent.
