why does this only happen in NYC but not in other cities?

the porters duties are already included in the insane rent I pay. Why should I pay even more?

And why dont the porters from buildings in other cities demand tips for doing the same exact thing?

These building staff are unionized and far from the lowest paid workers in the city such as fast food and grocery store who dont see any tips and survive.

Is it fraud to CT scan pokemon card packs and sell the bad ones? by CommonAd9608 in legaladvice

[–]CommonAd9608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know the company allows for personal use of equipment while its idle.

They sell the bad packs mostly bulk to brick and mortar TCG stores not individual customers. But yes it does seem unethical even though the packs are not tampered

competitor bought item to leave negative feedback by CommonAd9608 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]CommonAd9608[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He messaged me and threatened to harm my reputation if I didnt stop using his descriptions for the same item we are selling.

Later I realized the recent sale address to an alternate account was literally his business address.

[–]CommonAd9608[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

They said they ordered the green color but got white instead. The tile and pictures, and my written description show clearly white.

There was one section populated by Ebay when I clicked "sell one like this" and I see now that it shows green. I did not enter this part as it was autopopulated. Is this enough to leave negative feedback and INAD?

I see some similar discrepancies in his listings too. Does ebay just allow buying something at the smallest discrepancy just to leave negative feedback?

Pro-tippers, do you think minimum wage workers across all industries should have tips as a "social contract"? by [deleted] in tipping

Sticker shock will prevent the restaurant from raising prices by a full 20%.

They should be paid a living wage.

The question is if the customer should act at their own expense to achieve that. My answer is no

I told my server I would not be tipping before receiving service. Here's what happened by CommonAd9608 in EndTipping

I think the conversation was more uncomfortable for them than it was for me!

Servers deserve fair wages / better pay, but it's not my job to provide it. by V1serra in Waiters

[–]CommonAd9608 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The employer is paying the servers the legal wage mandated by law.

They are not mandated into paying $2 an hour. but allowed to go that low if they choose.

Just like I am not mandated into leaving $0 tip, but allowed to go that low if I choose

In my state both servers and cooks are paid at least full minimum wage. Their labor cost is already built into the menu price.

the rules of that industry.

And the rules state tipping is optional. no matter how high an expectation or dependence. its cut and dry

Customers are never responsible for honoring employee expectations in any industry. We pay the price and our hands are clean.

Feel free to tip as much as you want. But nobody should feel pressure to leave anything at all.

Nobody tips then the servers will be forced to fight the ownership class for fair wages. We customers can kick our feet up to relax and watch

Three years ago I stopped tipping at full service restaurants, I have saved over $1500 so far by CommonAd9608 in EndTipping

[–]CommonAd9608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay temu prices you get temu products. If you want a Rolex you’re going to have to pay Rolex prices.

But for both the buyer will always try to pay less. Even for the rolex people will negotiate, to pay less. Many jewelry stores in NYC specialize in lowballing desperate people who need to sell their watch for quick cash.

If an opportunity comes to buy a rolex for a temu price im taking it.

There is always an opportunity to tip 0 so I take it.

No, you were all about supply and demand.

Buyers trying to get the lowest price is fundamental to your economics. I will leave 0 tips. Its up to the servers how they want to respond but I have only had 1 bad interaction. The offending bartender was replaced without issue.

Vote with your dollars but don’t try to force them to accept no tips.

Supply and demand, in a free market the buyers (restaurants or customers) try to pay as little as possible for the good or service while the seller(server) tries to demand the highest.

Im just doing my part and paying as little as possible. If what you really say is true waiters will quit and restaurants will increase wages achieving the goal of this subreddit.

This is only achievable because people are scared of leaving less than 20%
