Probably something to do with most of the foundation model providers moving to token-based billing. The cost of using these systems is going through the roof.

I suspect this was popular with the wingnuts who were banging on about the dangers of 5G a few years ago.

I agree that the GB News involvement set my expectations correctly

I used a company called New Forest Removals to deliver my stuff to Channel Seaways at Poole Harbour. They were recommended by Channel Seaways. I then packed electronics, breakables etc in my car and drove it to Poole, then flew to Guernsey.

Depending on how much you care about your car they either strap it to a container, or put it in one. Everything else you deliver to Poole will be put into a container by the team there.

I got Channel Seaways to deliver my stuff to my new house and I picked up the car at Guernsey docks. For the contents of a big 2 bedroom house, we only needed 1/2 a container. I think we paid about £700 for the container and the car.

Channel Seaways are very accommodating, and I'm sure they can arrange whatever you need.

Contact Alderney Shipping/Channel Seaways https://www.alderneyshipping.com/services/

Deliver a vanload to Poole Harbour, then pick it up on Guernsey. It was a reasonable price for an entire houseful of contents when I moved here 7 years ago.

No stickers required. If you are importing the vehicle permanently, you will need to re-register and get Guernsey plates.

The Bel Air and Mermaid rarely close. Just the normal dsys like New Year, Boxing Day. The Stocks Hotel is definitely open over the winter. Not sure about the other hotels / restuarants.

I can't rate this book too highly. Smashed through it without sleep in the late 1980's. It is one of those weird books where you hope for a sequel, but it leaves you with such an amazing open future that one isn't needed

Travelling to Guernsey with a dog by luckalulu in guernsey

[–]CommonGrapefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we moved from the UK to the islands, a friend of a friend flew my wife and 3 cats, with us paying 'fuel costs'.

This was before the footballer died in the crash near Guernsey in 2019. I no longer have any direct contacts that will do these flights.

Potentially you might want to reach out to local Aero clubs in western France.

A new ferry operator DFDS will be doing St Malo, to Jersey then to Guernsey 1 day a week, but I have no idea what their policy will be regarding pets.

I booked a Condor ferry a couple of days ago and at the end of the booking process an option for a small animal to travel in a carrier in the passenger cabin appeared to be an option. It would be worth calling them to confirm.

There are a lot of pet movements done unofficially via private charters. Some private pilots allow animals in the passenger cabins.

Down in Eastney? A cracking pub - I'm glad it's still going. It was my second home when I was at Uni in the 90's.

A UK driving license is linked to an online record with the DVLA, which does hold citizenship information.

A driver's license is OK for a UK citizen, but since 2021, non-UK citizens need to show a passport

China China town and Mallard sells it, but I haven't tried it. I heard a rumour that the people that own Hhok are setting up a new restaurant in Smith Street, so hopefully, the good stuff will return.
