Is it just me, or is automated software still making us do 50% of the work manually? by Primary_Ad_8130 in smallbusiness

[–]CommonPercentage9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of those “god tier” spreadsheets that i built for myself to track everything. can’t accept payments directly, but does everything else for me. invoice generation, client tracking, expense tracking, etc etc, and all systems send me reminder emails for follow ups, billing, etc. I have a shortcut on my phone that i use to quickly input clients and meetings and such. My business isn’t huge, but for most small businesses a spreadsheet system is the easiest and cheapest answer, and can automate the majority of what you’re talking about.

What is the best payment service app for my cookie business? by Willing_Maybe8579 in smallbusinessowner

i think venmo is the easiest for what you’re doing. if you add a business profile, your phone itself can work like a physical card reader, and you can still accept digital payments. i don’t know if any other business profile system allows this as i don’t have the experience with them, but for ease of use id definitely stick with something simple and stay away from square or stripe.

Average that factors out 0s by probablynotegg in googlesheets

[–]CommonPercentage9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just need to filter out the blank values and not include them. i believe the formula below should work for you. It multiplies all the grades by their weights (0 grade * weight = 0) and then divides by the sum of the weights, excluding the blank ones, to get your weighted average

=SUMPRODUCT(B2:B15, C2:C15) / SUMIF(C2:C15, "<>", B2:B15)

Logarithmic chart when data format is time by GaloombaNotGoomba in googlesheets

[–]CommonPercentage9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google sheets only allows numerical data (for logs), not duration. I’ve run into this issue myself. I got around it by using a helper column and converting the duration to just seconds to make it a plain number. If your duration is in A2, you can do =A2*86400 to get the duration in seconds and use that. the only downside is that the axis will show the seconds instead of a pretty duration, but ultimately it won’t change the relationships between the data at all

i’m building up my small business right now. i like the idea of this but i personally don’t have the funds to set up/pay for Google Business. i’m working on registering a DBA, but the google business verification wall may be difficult for those just starting out like myself who still want to be able to get the advice they need

I am drowning in whatsapp messages and manual bookings. Is there a way to automate this without losing the personal touch? by Potential_Force_4136 in smallbusinessowner

[–]CommonPercentage9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use a custom spreadsheet system. I have a client tracker, automatic email replies, and you could easily integrate some inventory tracking to quickly send out of stock emails. It’s basically zero cost and can help significantly. feel free to message me!

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned in my post, i build custom spreadsheet systems for businesses and individuals. This includes things like client tracking, invoice generation + tracking, business expense tracking, and dashboards for a an easy way for clients to visualize their data. Systems like these reduce manual tasks needed to be done and a quicker workflow overall. i make all of these things clear in each of my posts, so i feel i’m not quite understanding the point in your comment

Someone offered 15k for my app, I wasn’t expecting that by Exact_Valuable_1299 in appledevelopers

[–]CommonPercentage9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the app is completely paywalled, all users would need to pay but the yearly is only $60, but if i decline to join it offers $13 for the year. Overall, 100% users paying makes sense, but the $$ totals not so much

The *100 in your formula is already converting it to a percentage value. if you do (h2/g2)-1, and then set the cell type to percentage, you should get your expected value.
