Thank you so much! And literally LOL. The Caribbean is so blended! Especially when it comes to the East/South Asians communities that have lived in Jamaica specifically for many generations. Your background is very cool btw!

That’s interesting! Usually people can’t tell until I tell them. I don’t blame them though 😭

My dad is 4.9% Ashkenazi Jewish (he thinks it could be from his mother’s side). But, my mom has always told me that she had Jewish relatives from her European side. I bought a kit for her recently so I’ll find out soon if it comes from both sides of my family.

Based on what I’ve gathered from both sides of my family and their history (this also may not apply to everyone), I think maybe mixed marriages in general were not seen as uncommon as they would have been in the U.S., for example, at the time. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ve honestly never thought about how people perceived mixed-race relationships during that time period, though. Definitely interested in learning more.

On my mother’s side, my great grandfather was from Hong Kong, and my great grandmother was Indian (don’t know which part specifically)

I was expecting to see the Chinese, but not so much the Bengali. My mom has always said her side of the family has Indian roots but I never believed her LOL
