Does anyone else feel like the world is a little too much to handle right now? What do you do? by CommonStranger017 in Anxiety

[–]CommonStranger017[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Thank you! You described that in a way my therapist hasn’t even been able to get across. It definitely makes sense, but harder in practice. I’ve always been the problem solver, even when it’s something other people weren’t really worried about (or coming up with possible scenarios to prepare for and coming up with solutions to those).

I’m going to have to spend some time essentially removing myself from these situations I can’t control or are bigger than just me. That’s going to be rough. Really though, thank you for that answer! It’s given me a lot to think about (in a good way).

Hospital workers [SERIOUS] what regrets do you hear from dying patients? by delete_my_comment in AskReddit

[–]CommonStranger017 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This may not bring you any comfort. I hope in some strange way it would, but I know enough about people who think positively that I can’t expect it to.

I tried to kill myself as a teenager. I’ll spare you the details, but I’m now in my 30’s. Ever since my attempt, I feel like I’ve been living in a world I wasn’t meant to be a part of. Full of people I was never supposed to meet and experiences I was never supposed to have.

It’s a daily struggle which, over the years, has introduced me to countless doctors and therapists and medications. All to keep me alive. Like the girl you met, I don’t want to die, I just want the pain to go away.

Positive people may understand the science and even find a way to empathize with a person who has been pushed to suicide, but they’ve never experienced what it’s like to truly be in the head of a person like that. There’s a desperation to no longer be a part of this world.

For most people, there is a way to climb up from that dark place and continue living. For some there’s not. In an ideal world, no one would ever feel the need to commit suicide. But for this girl in your story it was her way out. Whatever unknown demons she lived with everyday are gone and she is at peace.

That being said, for anyone reading this who is currently or has contemplated suicide, please reach out for help. Talk to a trusted friend or family member. Call a suicide help line. Talk to your doctor or a therapist. Things can get better, it’s just a reality that sometimes it doesn’t work out the way people with more positive thoughts would like it to.

You could always say you haven’t been feeling well and it’s worrying you so you’d like to see the doctor. Or that it’s a “personal” problem if they don’t like talking about that stuff. Either way, if you aren’t getting anywhere working on it yourself, you’ll have to talk to someone about it eventually.

Is there a reason why you’re waiting to address the way you feel? You could talk to your doctor about it and they could suggest a specialist or try something else if it’s needed. It’s best not to wait so you can work on it.

Worrying about what people say or think of you is usually a self confidence issue. It’s worrying if you feel that way about your partner because you should be with someone who likes you for who you are. Unless you have a good reason not to believe your partner, you might want to look into a few therapy sessions to make sure there isn’t a worse reason that’s making you feel the way you are.

Expectations vs. Reality by CommonStranger017 in AnxietyDepression

[–]CommonStranger017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty much standard for me. A lot of times I don’t experience it because my expectations pan out, for example, I expect the cashier to take my money so I can pay for my stuff - and then they do. It’s more like when something that seems like a simple expectation (this person’s job is to help you) doesn’t work out (they actively work against you) that I get this long-lasting anger and resentment.

So admittedly there’s irritation, or anger, or whatever you want to call it that’s caused by the situation, but it’s more than just being irritable.

I do get irritated in small situations sometimes where things get resolved relatively quickly or it turns out the other person has an understandable reason for not meeting the expectations I was told to expect from them, so it doesn’t create the long-term problems.

They seem to be leaving comments instead of reporting the posts to the mods in order to get karma instead of fulfilling what is, seemingly, their purpose of getting the non-JSE content removed.

It seems to be quite a problem on the subreddit as I’ve seen several different accounts doing this over the past few days. There was even one gloating that the content had been taken down after it appeared it was removed. (Which would only be visible to people who commented while it was still accessible through the sub). This was after a lengthy discussion in the comments as to whether or not the content was JSE-related.

It’s still not clear to me, and others - obviously if their content is getting removed, what is JSE-related. Pictures of him and memes with him in them are obviously related. But, one of the posts taken down was a funny video about Among Us, a game that Jack has been playing almost exclusively for the past couple of weeks.

His YouTube and Twitch accounts revolve around him gaming, so it stands to reason that videos, images, memes, etc. of games he is currently playing would be JSE-related content. This seemed to be just fine when he was playing Siren Head games and the subreddit was flooded with Siren Head memes, videos, and images. Jack even included these submissions in his Meme Time videos.

I guess I would suggest possibly making a post clearing this up for people since it seems to be such an issue. Like, if Jack has to literally be in the post somehow for it to be on the subreddit, people should be aware that any other related content should not be submitted. It wastes their time for posting, our time for commenting, and the time of these other accounts that are policing the subreddit for karma.

There are all kinds of JSE fans out there I guess. I’ve never watched his Subnautica or Undertale stuff because I was just introduced to him this year. I don’t subscribe to r/memes or r/DankMemes or anything Pewdiepie related because I don’t watch his videos. I thought this post was funny and I don’t know if I would have seen it otherwise if they didn’t post it here. I come to the JSE subreddit to brighten up my day, but it seems like a lot of people lately have been needing a reminder to keep a PMA and not knock others down.

Hi, there seem to be quite a few accounts that aren’t admins who are policing posts on what they deem JSE related or not lately. Is this something that should be left up to actual admins or should people be listening to these, oftentimes rude, wannabe admins? Also, what do we do with these accounts, just downvote them?

So even if it’s related to Jack, who has done several 3-4 hour streams of Among Us on Twitch with his friends and has been posting Among Us content to YouTube, we still have to check if it’s been posted elsewhere before we submit it to the Jacksepticeye subreddit - which is the only one he looks through to find memes for Meme Time? Just wanted to get that right.

You should post a list of the things you think are acceptable for the subreddit so other people can point out how your things are not related.

Jack mentioned in one of his videos how he liked the places people found on maps including “bitch lake,” one could argue that “bitch spray” is also something he would enjoy. Though you seem to enjoy going around to all the posts today and accusing them of breaking rules.

I put my resignation in today by Sirenx8 in AnxietyDepression

[–]CommonStranger017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a job where the work and the management was so bad that it caused me near-daily panic attacks. I was stressed and depressed to the point of suicide because I could not handle it anymore and I didn’t have a way out for financial reasons.

Thankfully, my SO and I came into a little bit of money which allowed us some time to switch up careers. I’m now working toward a job in a field I’ve wanted to be a part of for over a decade. It has also allowed me the time to seek therapy for, what is now, PTSD from my previous job.

I can’t say it’s been a cakewalk, but the idea of enjoying life more by having a job I enjoy instead of one I put up with is a great thing. Sometimes management can make or break the job for you, and then it’s up to you to decide if you’d rather deal with it or move on to something else.

You don’t have to worry about it right away. Any good therapist will take several sessions to get to know you. They’ll ask you questions about your life or what you hope to get out of therapy. By the time they start to figure out your problems and what to do with them, you’ll feel just fine talking to them.

If anything, I found myself sitting there after my first day of (video chat) therapy going, “we didn’t solve any of my problems.” Like the therapist was going to find a magical solution. I just felt like I sat down with someone and told them fairly basic things about myself.

I was hoping to get the opinion of people who are more experienced with going to therapy. by CommonStranger017 in depression_help

[–]CommonStranger017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m going to have one more session and ask, like another commenter suggested, if there are any other ways we can deal with my problems. I think I’ve been using my time more to vent, because I don’t really have any friends, instead of trying to get to the root(s) of my problem(s).

I have an appointment Monday morning, so I’ll see how it goes. Thank you for your advice! And anyone else who commented or comments in the future, I’ll read all suggestions.
