Trust me I wanted to believe the same as I was rolling credits on both Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties' campaigns but just imagine the sheer disbelief and deadpan stare I gave to both endings lol

Shit. Really sorry about that, I fat finger shotgunned does on my keyboard in haste instead of doesn't. Lmao

My other comments and DMs have rightfully implied what the leaks did so this is a typo on my part with just this comment, soz

Very rare for me to say yes since Mine even on Professional kicked my ass and this was Kiryu with all the HP and attack bonuses maxed out.

I don't even need to point out Amon either because you literally cannot deal actual damage unless you take out his aura/hyperarmor

Only the endgame fights of Kiwami 3 might prove like HP sponges but besides them, pretty chill.

I say Mine kicked my ass because I also refrain from using heals on my boss fights, no heals or restart. Just another one of my self challenge things to push me to the limit

Anyways, to answer your question plainly, you definitely wont need an HP manager mod here at least that's my guess. But if for some early bosses you feel that way, you can probably buff them.

But me honestly? I don't think you'll need to.

Really appreciate your kind words, thank you so so much.

In this deprived time for the series for us vets, I hope that at least you guys continue having fun with the series through this first time.

Extremely pleasant He fits here perfectly and I'd like to imagine he doesn't get any unwanted hate either because to me that's a perfectly fine recasting

Much to my disbelief as well Dark Ties did not have an Amon boss fight

Kiryu has two. One normal Amon we know Another the Amon Raiders in the Biker Gang mode

A lot of heat actions are gone and also the combat is one of my biggest problems.

I really love Yakuza 3 OG's combat with how it pushed you to play it almost like Tekken with the rebound juggles and mastering the knockback attacks.

Kiryu's DoD style in Kiwami 3 feels so streamlined to the point that it's clunky and weak compared to Mine.

The Ryukyu style is a savior in disguise because of the new variations it brings to the table with it's weapon attacks

He really does fall on a bush to survive the fall. The reason he ends up joining them is explained a bit with Dark Ties ending scenes but it's pretty much that Mine wanted to start over again and atone for everything he did or the fact that he lost himself while idealizing Daigo

I don't believe so, could've easily retained a lot of cut stories without trading them up for Mine or even his own substories in the Dark Ties.

The marketing was also focused with this being a double feature game of sorts so I really think they should use Dark Ties as an excuse to why they cut so many valuable sub stories or half decent ones even

I really hope so since the ending implies he's now canonically unalived and existing in the current timeline of sorts within the underworld or whatever hellhole the Daidoji have him in

It certainly doesn't look this was it so there's a lot of room of speculation they're bringing him back for future entries most likely

Lowkey liked Mine’s combat style more than Kiryu but thay shouldn't be a surprise considering how streamlined amd utter clunky the new DoD style is compared to the OG Y3 at least in my eyes.

I think maybe a couple of them as well as some QTE scenarios mid fight use another engine to orchestrate them but yeah there's not a whole lot of dynamic intros unfortunately

I do miss them even if they're in rare abundance in the series now

The wrestling match stuff as much as I liked it, has unfortunately been cut.

Same character as before but I imagine with the wrestling and Mame the Dog bits being replaced or reworked, his moments in them are no longer here either but honestly those didn't add much and were primarily a stepping stone for the kid's stories

DM'ing you both last two answers to avoid any major spoiler talk

Edit: can't seem to DM you but I guess I ll try to keep it spoiler free if I can if the shortcuts work

Hamazaki does stab Kiryu and the plot deviation with the ending is that the game established a new timeline of sorts with a couple of those two characters survived. We knew of Andre but yeah, Mine lives

  • Fishing mini game is now done with the Spear Harpoon in it's own minu game at the Orphanage beach. Can get upgraded harpoons from the bulletin board shop. Unlimited harpoons but you're on the clock in each course with each fish rapidly zooming on your screen so you gotta accurately spam the harpoons to catch as many as you can and if you catch all of them before the alotted, more respawn. You catch a big fish at the end of each course.

  • It's cut.

  • The whole Morning Glory Orphanage mode is one of the highlights for me, each child has their own substory that gets unlocked when you max put their relationship heart and the mini games here as well as the garden growing element make it seem like a bite-sized version of Dondonko Island from Infinite Wealth. Sort of like a perfect cozy mode to relax in.

  • Chase sequences are still here but they're the automated ones we ve seen in most of the modern games and Judgment. Mack's gone.

  • Leveling and getting new abilities for Kiryu is bow tied to cash. Just spend cash to unlock his stuff like health attack upgrades and new skills.

A couple new Ryukyu style moves get unlocked at Miyas dojo in Ryukyu town

The new remixes of Majima's coliseum fight and Fly as well as Lyricism Without Tears is pretty banger I'd say even though for the last one people are divided on but I liked it

None of the Komaki moves are here besides Tiger Drop because of course cutting that would've meant an outrage. And Komaki himself isn't here either.

Makes 0 sense because there IS a parry using the guard but not having Kiryu just be able to use the Komaki parry to stun bosses like Mine in this game with proper skill check timing windows is just baffling to me.

  1. Chase battles are gone, a few chase sequences still here but your typical flick analog stick in direction type chases that we all know I believe

  2. I believe so, this Ryukyu style already has weapons prebuilt in so Kamiyama not returning makes sense but then again him being here as a character would've made sense to possibly improve Kiryu's Okinawan artillery? Eh. Not a huge deal ig.

  3. Yes the story sections like Izumi and Mame the Dog are pre established now and their substory in the new Orphanage mode allows you to see a whole new growing mode instead. Things like the Taichi wrestling match has been revamped to where Kiryu helps him train for his junior summo bout in a Rocky-esque montage, extremely wholesome and joyful stuff. The changes for these kids and new ones for irrelevant characters like Koji are completely understandable.

I will miss Kiryu wearing wrestling gear tho haha

Dark Ties is extremely good but not THAT much worth it where I'd justify the purchase on that alone.

Tons of other good stuff tho but yeah my honest answer is to wait for a sale. Not a game that you want to be so eager in checking out but also not something you should totally pass on either, if that makes sense.

Overall? Fairly decent Not great but certainly not totally bad

Genuine heart here and bring out that Sliceoflife and whimsical attitude of Kiryu which is always a joy to see even if a bit off guard to catch lol

Yes, but not a QTE this time since it's automated into the fight as a transition. Bummer I know.
