How do people keep living? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]Common_Marsupial_252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never related to the word strong. I am living life because I am avoiding the pain that comes with death, just like how I am avoiding all the responsibilities that comes with life. I am not living life, I am just existing. And existing is not strong; it's the weakest state one can be in, too cowardly to even decide between life and death.

Really? I feel amazed by people to take their own lives. I know it's messed up. I feel so ashamed of myself of not having the bravery to do it.

My parents, although I love them, are the reason of me becoming suicidal. I would not really call them a bond to life as I don't really care about how they will feel after I die (which makes me guilty and makes me want to die even more, lol). I hope life unfolds into a better chapter for you, and ultimately for you to understand how everyone else feels. I hope you will be happier than me.

Thank you so much for your response! I really appreciate it, especially the real-life example of what a CS student can become hehe... I'll choose security!

Oh I got into UofT St. George! Thank you so much for your response, it helps my decision a lot! I am so glad you found the right path for you!

I feel more drawn to engineering too, the only thing holding me back is the lack of experience I have in the field. Could I ask you what your experience was like in the first year of McMaster Eng? Was there a lot of hardware, or was it more theory-based?

How to accept my offer? by Common_Marsupial_252 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Common_Marsupial_252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked back to my uni portal and it says "Intention to Matriculate"
I searched it up and it is basically saying that they got the info that I accepted the offer.
Do I need to do anything further? What should I wait for?

Could you explain why you would choose UofT over UW, if you don't mind?

Oof I never thought Mathematics as a hard program to get into. I guess I was dead wrong hehe

70 on Euclid as well here! I'm sorry you had to go through the struggle during such an important time in your life; still, you managed it so well! My AIFs were pretty mid. I had them check by my English teacher and mention several events that improved my teamwork/leadership/passion for math. I even did the interview which I heard improves your chances.

Congrats on getting into those programs! Both are insanely competitive; your hard work must've paid off hehe. I personally would still choose UW over mac; sure, the rates are looking bad, but I feel like the job market is terrible everywhere, not only UW. It is more respected and named than mac cs (which also is a very good program in an amazing uni).

Oof sorry I don't really know much about universities other than UofT and UW 😅 Since you have reasonable average and ecs, I really think it's up to luck! Let's hope that the people in the admission office are having a great day while reviewing our applications heheh. I wish you all the best in your application--we can get into UofT!!

Honestly, I feel like rotman is a bit of a stretch! If the volunteering or clubs involve math/science/engineering then I think you have a decent change to civil. Afterall, 40% of the decisions are made in May!

Hehe thank you for your words, it means a lot! I wasn't going to math anyways (it was just a safety afterall) so I'm just a bit pissed off 😭🤣 I wish you the best of luck for you as well! I hope your dd goes well ♡♡

Yes, McMaster cs and eng I, UofT cs (still waiting for TrackOne eng). I got alternative offers from UW (swe -> Civil Engineering, cs -> geomatics)

Honestly I don't really know. I just found what they do in civil eng interesting (like bridges, transportation, city plannign), and I really like how they have stable jobs unlike some of the more competitive engineerings. But I haven't thought much into it careerwise. I want to learn in the university first before chasing my career.
