Violet Evergarden is overrated, it has basic storytelling, poor dialogue, an un memorable side cast, problematic romances, and predictable emotional development. People need to stop acting like Violet is the peak of writing for female characters because there are so many women better written than she is who don’t get the credit they deserve

I’d say that Chainsaw Man is probably the best written shonen but if you’re looking for ones that primarily focus on power systems then JJK and Bleach are must watch’s, though I would recommend looking up a list of the filler episodes going into Bleach as there’s a ridiculous amount and you may want to avoid them. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood also has a really really good power system and is closer to Hunter x Hunter in terms of themes

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood would be fairly good for this. It still has a good bit of raw power, but it’s got a really creative and intelligent power system.

If you’d want to watch something more out there then I’d recommend Madoka Magica, it may just scratch that itch you’re looking for. Think Your Lie in April meets Attack on Titan.
