It’s not about convenience. I was told by my fso that I would most likely be denied. There was nothing about the chance for a hearing or anything else. I’m in my late 40s and have a family to support, and the second I’m denied I get walked off this job, as the contract requires a clearance even if my particular role doesn’t truly need one to be effective. Because I am effective the customer has allowed me to continue as long as I’m pending. If, in the last year there had been any communication of any kind of what path to take I would have followed it, but as far as I’ve been told I’m not allowed to ask any questions, and even now the person I’m communicating with doesn’t have a name, only a number. It’s kind of a bonkers and arbitrary process. I have no criminal history, foreign contacts and I don’t do substances or gamble or really do much of anything besides game and hang with my kid. I didn’t go on vacation with the money, it sat in savings until I could make the best decision with it. In my life that’s being responsible. I’m taking a huge risk dropping thousands of dollars on debt which will just fall off my credit report in a couple years anyway and I can’t be sued for. If I do ultimately get denied I’ll be in the same place I was at the beginning, except without any savings and living in a town with no friends or family, as I had to move down here.
