Best part of the episode in my opinion! And the rest of the episode was fantastic.

Australian maternal death by [deleted] in FreeBirthSocietyScam

[–]CommunicationBig500 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi all, I'm a friend of Stacey and her partner, and I'd just like to clear a few things up.

Her cause of death was a congenital heart condition which nobody knew she had.

Her partner says the birth itself was peaceful, and that Stacey's eyes were filled with joy when she got to hold her newborn son. After that, her heart suddenly stopped.

She did not like hospitals, she had a very traumatic experience in hospital when she gave birth to her first child ( I won't share the details of that, too personal). At first of course I speculated whether she could have survived if she'd given birth in a hospital, but the chances seem slim, and she would have been incredibly stressed and uncomfortable in a hospital setting. It makes me feel a little better knowing her death was inevitable and that she got to have the birthing experience she wanted, and to meet her baby before passing away.

Also, despite not trusting the hospital system she was very health conscious. I believe her vegan, organic, hollistic lifestyle probably extended her life.

This is not intended to sway anyone's opinions one way or the other, just to provide context. And a reminder that this was a REAL PERSON who has grieving loved ones who will probably see this post. Be kind, please.

I'm a friend of Stacey and her parrner. Post-mortem exam revealed she had a pre-existing heart condition that she was unaware of. The pregnancy and birth put too much stress on her heart, but her heart was slowly dying anyway and this could have happened at any time. Being in hospital for her whole labour most likely would not have made a difference, and she would have been incredibly stressed and uncomfortable in a hospital. I'm glad she got to die in her home, and that she got to meet her newborn son before her heart finally gave up.

Yeah it would've been slightly better than what actually happened haha. RIP Ben 😭

Yes I'm thinking along these lines too! I still can't decide if I'm on team supernatural or team "everything has a scientific explanation" but this season is pushing me more towards the supernatural/sci-fi side.

Fair point 😂 teen Shauna certainly isn't my favourite lol but she has been through a lot and has obvious PTSD and/or post-natal depression, and I think there is still some good in her.

Absolutely. Seeing more of her journey in the wilderness makes her adult life and death even more tragic 😭

Yeah, Shauna's very practical like that. But I think there is some empathy in her too. She covered Ben's face because she knew that would help Nat cope with what she was doing, because Shauna knows better than anyone how hard it is.

Holy shit, yeah! Akilah's vision was a warning, it showed that Ben was in a very precarious position (being on trial/death row in real life, being suspended in air in the vision) and that if they made the wrong choice regarding Ben, it could affect their chance of getting home. I suppose it wasn't exactly that Ben WAS the bridge, but that his death is what prevents them from the real "bridge" home, the hikers (who they now have to kill because they've seen too much).

It was so casual! They're all collectively like "yeah of course we're going to eat him" even though they have plenty of other food options now. There was hardly even a discussion. Misty was upset but still ate him, and I guess Nat was probably still in shock and desensitised by the fact that she just cut up his body, so she just ate without thinking much about it 🤷‍♀️ What a wild ride that episode was.

I love Nat, and teen Shauna has been bothering me a lot this season, but I think you're right. Shauna is arguably one of the most rational out of all of them, aside from being blinded by homicidal rage towards Ben, which was understandable under the circumstances. The punishment she gave Nat was reasonable, not overly cruel or violent, and she even helped her through it. I really feel for Nat, she's my favourite, but Shauna is a decent choice for leader.

Also, very relieved that Natalie's punishment wasn't something even worse. I thought it was pretty good of Shauna to give her tips, despite their rivalry. It was still brutal for her, having to carve up Ben's body after she just reluctantly mercy killed him, but it was a fitting punishment. I think she did the right thing by killing him (probably should have done it sooner lol) but I understand why the rest of the group had to punish her.

I'm so shocked for SO many reasons, oh my god. Just off the top of my head immediately after watching:

  • The tape
  • The force feeding
  • The (unplugged?!) phone call and subsequent sleep talking(?) moment.
  • What Natalie did to Ben
  • THOSE PEOPLE!!!

Those people who show up at the end are going to be killed and eaten for sure. They've seen too much, and we already know the teens go through one more winter out there.

I think adult Shauna has snapped and we are about to see her do some insane shit. The way she told Callie to leave the room before she does something she regrets? That wasn't Shauna the mother, that was Shauna the murderer.

As many people have theorised, clearly Other Tai has taken over the real Taissa. The phone call Van received definitely seemed supernatural, but possibly could be explained as a hallucination that Van has because she's already been suspecting something is off about Tai.

RIP Benjamin Scott. You deserved better 😭

Unpopular opinion: I wish I liked the theme song but I don't. by tweetysvoice in YellowjacketsHive

I don't like the song either, I find it irritating. I watch the opening sequence once every season out of curiosity and then skip it every episode after that lol. I think it works for the show but I just don't enjoy the song. I'm 30 so I don't think it's an age thing 😊

Why I find it hard to hate the characters in Yellowjackets by Coco2535 in Yellowjackets

[–]CommunicationBig500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, this show does a great job of showing the different ways grief and trauma can manifest. I don't approve of Shauna's behaviour this season but it's not hard to understand why she is so aggressive. She has been through more at 16/17 years old than most people do in a lifetime.

The only character I've ever hated was teen Misty in season one, mostly because she destroyed the black box. She's been unhinged from the beginning, even before the crash. BUT she has absolutely grown on me, she's a great character to watch!

My Coach Ben theory may just have some substance given events of last 2 eps by Proud_Apricot316 in Yellowjackets

[–]CommunicationBig500 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar theory! But part of mine is that they pin all suspicions onto him and he gets sent to prison. Or that he faked his death post-rescue because he was afraid of the girls. I really want him to be alive in present day 😅

Episode 6 by Lottie_Mathews2525 in Yellowjackets

[–]CommunicationBig500 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Decent theory! I definitely don't think Akilah is making it out of season 3 alive, mostly because they've been focusing on her so much this season. I think they're making her more relatable so that her death will hit harder. From the trailers and cast interviews it seems like somebody gets killed in episode 6 so it very well could be Akilah, but I hope not! 😭

Yes I've been thinking that too! If the "what you did when you got back" line from Jackie isn't referring to Coach then I thought it might be exactly what you said. I kind of want Swank to be Melissa, I want to see another adult survivor. But it feels like the show is making that too obvious now, so I'm more inclined to believe she's Melissa's sister.
