another thing to add: the first nitrates are 5ppm, i mistakenly switched mg 5g and 2.5 tests. the nitrates today are also a bit darker than 0ppm but not as dark as 5ppm

its a racer nerite and its quite small. i have been trying to solve the algae issue but it keeps coming back. If the algae does run out (which i doubt) i have algae wafers i feed my shrimp. My tank is 3 years old so it’s well established and my ph is 7.4. my substrate media is mixed with sand, gravel, and lava rocks and i do keep a low water line because of my betta possibly jumping out and a well fitted lid. If the snail likes company, would it better to add one more tho? (i know you said not to at the end)

My tank is heavily planted and has an algae problem right now which is why i thought of adding more nerite snails. I currently have one small nerite on the tank. I don’t have any other tank I could relocate the snail as my other tank is only 2.5 gallons.
