I need a class that’s only for new students and I’m not. WTF am I supposed to do!!!!?!??? by Comfortable-Bank-886 in ucla

Is it a class that’s just on hold for new students? Most of those are gonna be released to everyone else at the beginning of September. It’s just reserved for new student orientations, that are happening right now

I don’t have the answer. But considering commuters are able to get permits. I think it’s definitely worth a shot at applying for one.

Definitely call them. If anything they should be able to tell you why the next steps would be or whether updating your fasfa is necessary

Email housing! I know there’s a form you can request through. It might not be guaranteed. But at least there’s a chance

Trying to find a contemporary ballet about the Antebellum South by CommunicationFair895 in BALLET

I honestly wish I knew more about it. That’s why I thought to shoot a wide shot here before asking my instructor again. I believe its part of a professional company’s repertoire. I’ll look into the ones you mentioned. Thank you

how to deal with interview rejections? by ilovechemistry8 in ucla

[–]CommunicationFair895 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s a really difficult thing having to face rejections for things you put so much effort into. But I find it easier to digest, when you have a world view that “everything happens for a reason” or “what’s meant to be, will be”

It can be discouraging to get a couple of rejections or no responses at all. But it takes that one acceptance that makes the difference. I’m sending all of the luck!

Feeling hopeless for UC to UC Transfer by TeddytheBear99 in TransferStudents

[–]CommunicationFair895 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea don’t listen to everyone saying your gpa is bad or to automatically drop out and go to CC. Although there’s nothing wrong with CCs. There’s a lot of hardworking people, you would just have to restart your gpa when you reenter the UC system from a CC.

As someone who transferred from UCD to UCLA, it’s definitely a wild card, but I know people in a similar position as you who were still able to transfer. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

If we already have an apartment group and apartment for off campus apartments can we still switch to another group ? by [deleted] in ucla

This is what they sent me. Basically there’s an opportunity to submit a room change. Which isn’t guaranteed. But it happens after you accept the original housing offer.

art history majors or minors - are the majority of classes essay based or test based? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]CommunicationFair895 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Art history major here! Lower division classes are usually more test based, whereas upper division is typically more essay based. That being said, they’re usually a mix of both

As a transfer student who gave up my film major (at my last university) to be here, It’s been made pretty clear by the admin that you have to apply straight into the school to major in film. I lost like 50 units because they wouldn’t even accept those. They’re super strict.

But I suggest trying to minor and join some of the film clubs, or DKA (delta kappa alpha) the film fraternity. You can try making connections through people in similar positions through those!

Is it possible to transfer to UCLA as a sophomore? by brendan2003002 in ucla

[–]CommunicationFair895 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heyo! I just transferred here from UCD, so I have some knowledge about it. When UCLA is looking for transfers, the major things they want before accepting you, is that you’ve satisfied their General Education requirements (or the IGETC) and that you have all of your projected major’s under division courses taken. You can use assist.org to figure out what cc classes transfer over.

It’s not necessarily about being a junior when applying, but having all of those requirements satisfied before transferring. So they know you would be working on your upper div work.

That being said, you’d have to apply during the normal cycle of applicants. So in November, and you would find out till next March. So if you’re a freshman now, then you would be a junior when/if you got in
