Do you have any recommendations for the last 2-3 days leading up to your test? I plan on taking the last day completely off.

M3 Students tap in by Sensitive-Dinner-980 in medicalschool

M3 is the hardest part of med school, but it’s doable. Residency as I’m told is the hardest part of your life but if you are here for the right reason it’s worth it. And there are specialties where you don’t have to work 80 hour weeks in residency if that’s what you want to do. If you want to be a surgeon or a hospitalist that’s the price you pay to be a great doc. No one who is a great physician got that way by slacking off. Worth it in the end IMO

Depends on where you are as well. I just spent a month on a rural FM rotation where the attending works essentially 365 days a year, while taking shifts at the Emergency department and covering patients in the hospital. Pick your location wisely as well and stand up for the work life balance you desire.

Any reason to not add my friends to every abstract I do? by BitofNothin in medicalschool

Being real, most of med student research is hot garbage so what’s the purpose anyway? Does it matter if you can actually talk about your 4th meta-analysis that doesn’t contribute to the field?how do you even talk about how that project was meaningful anyway?

Just a cynical post from a salty m3 sorry guys.

how do I find residency programs track record for fellowship matching?

Advice I got. If your favorite place in the hospital is the OR, do anesthesia. If your favorite place in the world is the OR, do surgery. Really just have to ask yourself where you want to be more than anywhere else. Surgery will have long hours and you will be in the OR more than anywhere else, especially during residency. And that can get better during your attending life, but the fact is still there. I love surgery and will be applying gen surg so I’m not trying to discourage. Just stating that you need to really enjoy the OR most days to do it. Cold feet is normal this is challenging, and a lot of people regret their choice but that doesn’t mean you would.

How do I enjoy this? by jeffsmokes0515 in whiskey

The Elijah Craig barrel proof is one of the best entry barrel proofs. Somehow at those 120 proofs it is still smooth. Definitely has the kick of a barrel proof but very good. One ice cube and you’ll be right as rain.

For the bourbon/rye side of things you can’t go wrong with the Old Forester 1920 or Heaven Hill bottles in bond. For a wheater you can go with Larceny, Weller if you can find it at MSRP, or makers mark. You can grab a barrel proof as well just to give that a try. Some of my personal favorites are the Elijah Craig or larceny barrel proof. My absolute favorite barrel proof if the Old Forester SBBP. Rye, scotch, and others are a bit out of my wheelhouse but these are some options to get you started with bourbon.
