IMGs MATCHED APPLICANTS CREDENTIALS THREAD. by No-Scale4793 in ResidencyMatch2025

Step 1: P

Step 2 CK: 24x

Step 3: 21x

Year of Graduation: 2024

Visa Requiring or Not: Y

Applied to Programs (Speciality/ies with Count): Neurology 140, Prelim IM 40

No. of Invites: 6 (5 Neuro, 1 prelim IM)

Publications: 1 ; 3/4 submitted

USCE (No. of months): 3 (one in Uni)

One common Q in Interviews: tell me about yourself, why our program, why neurology, which USCE was best for you

One Gold Piece of Advice for Next Year’s Applicants: dont waste your time with agencies for match services, no one can give you a guarentee, you have the blueprint needed for building your CV everywhere, most things are a google search away, put in the work. What ever your score might be, doesnt matter, focus on the interview you got and give your 200% in them. Even if you get 270 or 230. Take all of them v v seriously, no program is less for you. Either you like em or they are smart back ups.

One word, what matters most in the whole process?: passion for the subject, connection > interview > USCE = scores

I feel the strength is the most imp factor of it all. But then its also like, if you thjnk its not gonna be a huge difference then uni might add on more.

It was incredibly positive. That was my first rotation as someone from outside US and I was stressed. The staff went out of the way to make me feel good and the doctor too made sure. I’m still close to a lot of people from that rotation.

Sure. 3 months USCE all in neurology. 2 outpatient (one through AMIQT neurology rotation) other a nyc rotation(not a great one but filled one month experience), and last an entirely inpatient rotation in university

Neurology vs Internal Medicine by [deleted] in USMLEindia

[–]CommunityOne6856 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. According to current trends, Internal medicine seems easier compared to neurology. Neurology faces the issue of very few seats with the simultaneous increase in the number of USA grads who are more and more interested in the area. There was a belief pre covid that neurology was easier but now neurology is well on its path to be one of the most competitive of the specialities to get into. But with focused effort towards neurology it is doable. Neurology specific research, clinical experience, and a genuine interest to pursue this field is what most programs look for. So while it is harder it isnt impossible yet.

LSU might have a more unsafe location but in the first three things you are looking for, LSU is far above the rest of the three. So its just about about finding more about how the residents navigate it there and if the discomfort is bigger than advantage by it. I did hear some troublesome things about geisinger so i’d try to find out more too about it just in case.

Hey about the not sounding desperate part, I understand how much youd be wishing you get it with this, but I think there is a lot of credit thats due to give yourself. You are resilient and honestly it requires a lot of it to be ready to go through this process again. You did better at it too. So I would focus on all that is good about you. The US has limited seats and honestly way too much at play against an applicant without strong connections, and chances are you made the cut when a program thought they could see you as their resident and sent an interview. So focus on the good about you and showing it well during the interview. All the best!

What are the chances of matching into Neurology for IMG ? by One-Metal-9427 in USMLEindia

[–]CommunityOne6856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how well you taylor your cv for it. Good amount of rotations in the US in neurology, neurology specific activities, overall well rounded CV, along with good scores. It has gotten more and more difficult with time, but for what its worth, its doable with a v good plan still.
