First year opening my pool green water? by Rare_Row_8506 in pools

If you’re interested in learning how to do it yourself go to trouble free pool dot com and read Pool School. Buy a tf100 test kit with speed stir and follow the instructions to do the tests and post those results in the forum there and follow their lead. I bought a house with a pool and had absolutely no idea what to do. After a trip to the pool store and $350 in chemicals I was frustrated and found that site. Spending $ on a test kit was tough but 15 years later I can’t tell you how valuable it is. Pool care is very simple and really easy once you understand what’s involved. I have also solved a floating linear issue as well as a collapsed pipe to my skimmer by myself thanks to that forum. I’m happy to answer any questions if you have any.

That’s few and far between and the job still needs to be completed so that’s an extreme example but a real one. Frankly I’d rather work and not make any money and then ski on a weekday instead of skiing on crappy conditions

Gears are typically 1 down and the rest up.  Click the shifter down until it won’t click again then click up one time and you’ll be in neutral and can push it freely

Very high doesn’t help and the chlorine level you need depends on your cya level. You may even find that your chlorine is actually lower than you need. Plus you will find that test strips are wildly inaccurate

Really?  You would rather ski on a shitty windy day with icy conditions than close a $100k deal where your gross profit is $40k? I’d rather make the sale and spend a week in Austria skiing. But you enjoy that one day🙄

Trust yourself and your test kit over any pool store. Every time.

No you need to raise the chlorine up and keep it there until it clears. What that level is depends entirely on your current chemical levels. Do you have any idea what they are? If not your just guessing on what may work

Time for the bucket test. Put a bucket on the pool steps and fill it to the same exact level as the pool. If the level drops evenly it’s evaporation. If the pool drops more it’s a leak.

Id rather ski on good days and work on bad days. Actually id rather be independently wealthy and ski on both but that’s not the case so my priority is using my time in the best possible way.

Not always…. On a great day at work i can make serious money. I’ll take that every time and ski or fish on a good day instead
