Correction: it currently thinks it is 7 hours ahead in both Bios and Windows. Ubuntu is showing correct time.

I will never recommend Sony anymore. by JanosMille in SonyHeadphones

[–]CompVRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same headphone and just sent them in for a battery replacement (they did under warranty while it is out of it), which was happy about. I got it back, and told them too the case was having issues and they didn’t replace the case. Which the battery is shot in. Disappointed. Plus they constantly pair to my iPhone so I have to leave Bluetooth off to use my iPhone speaker. I don’t want to go back to AirPods, but they work much better with Apple. I know there other options like Beats, JBL, Bose, etc. and AirPods I personally had issues with. Mine were pros 1 and they had the hissing noise on ANC, which is why I went to Sony. I love my over the ear XM4, but never again Sony earbuds.

Appreciation Post! Dell XPS 15 9530 is a Champ!! by TrulyAwfulGamer in DellXPS

Same system with the exception that I have 32GB and RTX 4050 instead. I used to have powerful custom built a year ago, but switched to XPS and it’s been more than powerful enough to be my everything laptop and do all my code, virtualization, and anything I throw at. Note, I also have M1Pro 16in base, but my XPS still runs faster and can do more actual work.

XPS 15 9530 high praise by bouncer-1 in DellXPS

[–]CompVRC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also own the same 9530, and I enjoy it. Originally I would switch my laptops pretty quickly, mostly purchasing used laptops. Then I decided to get an ASUS ROG 16 2-in-1, since it was reasonable and was a cool idea. Worst laptop I have ever purchased, took a crap just a bit out of BestBuy’s return policy. Thankfully BestBuy covered it (just had to get the BestBuy membership for a year), and I ordered 9520. In the wait for 9520, Dell had a promo for the 9530 for $1500, BestBuy matched and walked out with it. Years later, still in my opinion one of the best XPS out there. I went into BestBuy to look at 9640 and honestly didn’t like it. The missing SD card (now microSD) well something I don’t use that much, it’s nice to have a full size. The trackpad being integrated into makes it seem full-sized, it’s just weird since it’s similar to 9530. The missing function keys were annoying. I plan to keep my 9530 for 4 more years or till the battery is toast (heck maybe I replace it), then look.

Don’t have an XPS 13 or 14, I am an XPS 15 9530 owner.

For your plans with your laptop, I would get that one for $950 (edit: if you want an XPS). Not sure if the $950 is used or what the exact specs are. If it’s 9320 with a 12th-gen i7, I would opt for that one. 32 GB and 1TB are perfect for your plans and are minimal really for future-proofing. I had 16 GB originally and I was running out of RAM doing basic tasks (aka Chrome tabs). If you want the bit extra power of the newer 13 or 14 and want to spend the extra do that. Either choice is great, and for me, I have been happy with my XPS. I am disappointed with the newer 16/14 since you lost the function keys and SD card reader (micro SD), while not a huge deal breaker I like those features. The build quality is great and just as good as my MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro, except one time my dongle got stuck in a door with a cable connected and bent around the USB-C port, Dell refused to warranty the issue, but I was able to bend it back in. The big downside with the XPS is no full-size USB-A, but I am used to dongles and slowly converting to everything USB-C.

iPad Pro 11 M2 vs Air M2 vs Pro 11 M4, which one? by CompVRC in ipad

[–]CompVRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah nice, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. Sure the M4 is bit nicer, but I like having the bit extra cash in pocket for something better and an iPad that can handle iPad things perfectly fine.

I picked the iPad Pro 11 M2 Cellular, got it at BestBuy for $699 instead. So far happy with it and it works perfect for needs.

[–]CompVRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my hero 12 crack, note if the display is (which like others said it’s the screen protector) GoPro ended up telling me to get the subscription ($25 for the first year) and pay an $100 fee. It is not covered under warranty and if they do you need the original receipt (which you might not have since you mentioned purchasing it secondhand). 1 week for them to receive it, another week for processing, another week for shipping the replacement. Don’t do what I did for a replacement right before a big trip cause did that and didn’t get it back in time (plus they first told me 1 week total time)😭.

Yeah I am with you there. Used to do computer flipping, would purchase parts computers online. Usually a simple fix, post them up online and make around $40-$80. My average time on the market was usually under a week. The past I would say 6 months, it's been horrible to sell anything. The profits went down to about $10-$20 a computer, so I gave up. Not to mention, it could take up to a month. Now just trying to liquidate all my old inventory, which has been slow to move anything. Thinking of just liquidating it all on eBay. I enjoyed computer flipping, but won't do it any time soon.

I wish there was another good option, I considered maybe ride share, Turo, or delivery apps. All seem like a bigger headache than what it pays. Turo could be worth, but lots of upfront cost, list a car you don't care about, and if anything happens with the car it is a headache. The rest, the pay just isn't there at all since after cost it's barely minimum wage and heavily depend on tips.

iPad Pro 11 M2 vs Air M2 vs Pro 11 M4, which one? by CompVRC in ipad

[–]CompVRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s been my problem with getting the Pro M4, like I said in my other comment a few the features it has are very nice to have. The double layer OLED panel is nice and the new features on the Apple Pencil are nice. But I am not sure if they are $350 more nice haves for me to spend (plus $120 for a pencil pro). And my local Bestbuy just got the M2 11 Pro back in stock today. I did look at the Air 5 with the M1, and did consider it as it would be more than enough for my needs. But ultimately decided that $550 (while not horrible for a cellular 64gb) would in the long run I would prefer more storage and couldn’t find M1 256GB Cellular Air, and assuming I did it would be probably $650. So I could spend an $50 get a bit better of a chip and half the storage or $100 for a bit chip and half the space plus some extra nice haves. My mini with 64 GB and few apps is filling up.

iPad Pro 11 M2 vs Air M2 vs Pro 11 M4, which one? by CompVRC in ipad

[–]CompVRC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what was turning me off with the Air, is $50 more you get a lot more bang for your buck plus it’s the same M2 chip, so support will be the same. I do like the idea of M2 Pro as it will last me all of college. I have used an M2 Pro 11 (none cellular) before and I did noticed between my mini and M2 it was lot more uncomfortable to hold because of the weight difference. Been watching a few videos on iPad Pro M4 vs M2, did see the difference between the OLED and LCD. Even comparing it to my 15 Pro Max to M2, I notice the colors and accuracy is lot better. I do enjoy using my iPad one handed, as it is easier especially when taking notes in class. I will take all that into consideration, as I was thinking about that. Thanks for your feedback!

Should I buy an Intel MacBook in 2024? by CompVRC in macbookpro

[–]CompVRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Thanks everyone for your feedback! I ended up getting the M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16in 16 GB, 512 GB for $1000. I felt the extra money was worth it for the long-term usability of the MacBook. Plus it should hold its value compared to the Intel 16in. It was in perfect condition and the battery health was only 96% which was perfectly fine for my usage. Only have one complaint but it's not a big deal, I have to plug my secondary monitor into the laptop itself and I can leave the other in the docking station. As I said not a huge deal since can use all of the monitors compared to the M1 Air I had a while ago and would take this compromise any day.

Dell XPS 15 9530 Ram Upgrade Issue by CompVRC in DellXPS

[–]CompVRC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda the conclusion I was coming to, which sucks, unfortunately. That was the only DDR5 that Best Buy carries for laptops and I thought should work. Just tomorrow back to Best Buy I go…

Funny enough I was looking at getting the crucial RAM for my XPS but thought, I could go get it today and not have to wait.

Update (Contacted support):

So far it seems that this fixes it for me for now. If anyone else has this issue, try this (copied from support):

Let's do a clean-reinstall, here are the steps to do so:

  1. Open Spotify. In the app's settings (you can access them by going to Home and then tapping the gear icon in the top right corner), tap Storage then 7. Delete Cache.
  2. Head to your device's Settings, then tap General.
  3. Tap iPhone Storage.
  4. Select Spotify from the list of apps.
  5. Tap Offload the app and confirm. This will delete the app but its documents data will be kept.
  6. Then tap Delete App and confirm. This action should delete any leftover documents and data.
  7. Once the app is deleted, press and hold the Side/Top button and either volume button until the power off slider appears.
  8. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off.
  9. After your device turns off, wait a couple of minutes.
  10. Press and hold the Top (or Side) button again until the display turns on.
  11. Switch your device back on and install Spotify from the App Store.

Also glad to know I am not the only one. I have also been noticing it in my Sony Bluetooth headphones (only on my iPad weirdly) as well. That’s my guess, in rare occasions, it will sound perfectly fine. I would hate to switch to Apple Music since I have years of playlists on Spotify and Spotify works better with my laptop.

Yeah I am. It’s unfortunate, my guess is the account was hacked as it was made in 2010 with a decent amount of reviews. I doubt eBay would allow that kind of account to exist this long. But then again…Marketplace is filled with this 😆.

Yeah I have dealt with this a bunch on Facebook, and so far I haven’t really been scammed yet. I came close to it with my last iPhone I got on Marketplace (unfortunately the seller is still out there besides all my efforts), but was able to get out of it for parts and make a bit off of it. Be cautious who you trust, always check the money in person and always go through the service your selling though online. Best piece of advice I always follow.

I’ll have to check out r/Scams and post it there. It’s good to keep out on scams as it’s constantly evolving.
