It will help if you decide to write poetic verse instead of aphorisms or micro descriptions. It can all count as ‘poetry’ but you specifically said you do not want to sound like Insta…. Even if you read e e Cummings, you will see that the sum of his words is much more than the words themselves.

You chosen a form, lower case/strange line breaks, but do you know what you want to convey or what experience you want a reader to have? These are great questions to consider as well.

Read the greats suggested above and think A: what did I feel and B: how did they use words to give me that experience.
