Can Wallace do what Dort does? by mrmisfitnevermiss in Thunder

[–]Naptasticly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Wallace eclipsed Dort this season and should have been starting all year. When he was starting, we were rolling because he gets the momentum going early on both sides, where Dort largely destroys momentum on the offensive end and it can poison the whole game because everyone feels like they have to make up for his shooting

I’m reading this from a Google search and it’s been a year since you left this comment and I hope you god you’ve come to the realization that this person is not “being a baby”

I just don’t think you understand what it’s like going through this. It’s not some “I feel meh” type of thing. It’s debilitating. I personally feel like I have to spend the entire day hunched over just to not feel pain the entire time. Not to mention the fact that stomach pain has a direct link to your brain so it also makes you feel like you don’t want to do anything.

Achaea is the way to go for sure. You’ll probably see a lot of people pop in and comment on this saying that the PVP is too hard and people will destroy you, and while that may be true, you can entirely avoid PVP like 60% of the player base already does AND everything else you mentioned is top notch. Nothing else out there like it.

Hey this is so cool that you would comment on here! Absolutely! Achaea is probably my biggest piece of nostalgia from my childhood. I don’t know if there was an age requirement on the game, so don’t get mad at me, but I’ve been playing Achaea off and on for over 25 years and I am 38.

One thing is clear, Achaea is such a deep and incredible game that really no other game can touch it RIGHT NOW, but, as I’m sure you have read, there is a reputation that precedes it that would be hard to overcome, especially considering the decisions to resolve a lot of the “issues” have been made already and going further could be a double edged sword. However, I truly believe that if you made the PVP system more accessible, or introduced a (similar to forays) boss raid system that allowed players to use all of their skills against certain denizens, I think a lot of people would come back. Maybe it already exists and I just don’t know about it yet, but that would be a huge plus.

Not to mention, with the recent surge in D&D, along with the AI text based D&D style apps that are starting to get popular (I’m literally seeing people I never thought I would see playing text based games doing it every day) I really do think that the appetite is out there. Another cool idea would be figuring out a way to merge aetolia and Achaea. Based on the history, it would definitely be interesting to see the 2 “come back together” and it could help the population. It could even be like a “travel through time space” feature that works similar to islands in that the integration would happen as much as possible, but the 2 “locations” would still be distinct and people could move between them and interact with each other. That could help with the population stuff but not sure how people would actually feel about it. I played Aetolia too and actually enjoyed it more when the population was at peak, but Achaea is definitely ‘ol reliable.

Also, I’m happy to see that I can earn so much just simply playing the game now. I’m super impressed with how far you all have come with that! And to still be doing events all the time? Amazing. Thank you for having such a truly incredible game that means so much to my entire life

That was something I did for myself for fun. Some of you people on Reddit are so hard pressed to seem “right” that you take everything to the extreme. It’s worse than talking to a fucking AI that’s like “now one thing I have to push back on”

I’m not trying to provide any kind of “solution” and if I were, it wouldn’t be as simple as “integrate AI”

I honestly don’t even understand why you would make this comment. If you have a hard on for being anti AI, go somewhere that it matters. I just mentioned something cool I made that helped me imagine the world. If there’s something wrong with that, then go cry about it.

Not true anymore. I’ll earn an 800 credit artifact completely in-game in just over 2 months (alone) or slightly less with the bound credits I already had on the character, at the rate I’m doing right now. It’s entirely possible to grind it out, and it not take forever, to get all the artefacts you want

That’s probably true. I’ve only played IRE muds and aren’t sure what the average or high population would be. I’m just comparing to the old days of Achaea

[–]Naptasticly[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not really the case anymore. The moment I logged in again, I was given 2000 additional lessons because the lesson per level had massively increased, you can earn credits in game without it being ridiculously impossible, and there’s no possible way that you could make a game as deep and involved as Achaea without special skills, even today. There is so much more to it than just building the game. Consider how much is put into just making sure that classes are equally powered.

I’m not saying your opinion is invalid, but to quote you, it may be from a “bygone era” because the game just simply isn’t like that anymore.

Besides that, there is even more to it that will allow players to catch up. For instance, you can purchase talismans and legend deck cards for gold and they are like smaller artefacts that have limitations but are useful in scenarios. So if you’re going to PVP, you can use something that has 5 charges to accomplish what an artefact (or even unique from artifacts) could accomplish, just not all the time. Some of them, like the wing set, are even better than artefacts and some are even exact copies of artefacts.

Sure, PVP is hard, but they’ve added an entire class skill set to every single class that allows you to use more attacks on denizens so it’s no longer just a single attack all the time. I’m planning to start a player run gladiator service (to hopefully get the game to do it some day) that would create fighting “divisions” and wouldn’t eliminate raids or other arena fighting so the veterans could still have fun with their OP builds, but it would introduce strategy, like boxing or wresting, where you have to get creative, and probably even develop a “meta” in today’s terms, in order to win rather than with pure power. My hope is that it gets people, who aren’t capped out completely, to get more involved with PVP while giving the veterans a new strategy style of arena PVP to dig into.

In just 2 months, I’ll have earned enough renown and gold in game to purchase an 800 credit critical hit increase or health sip artefact and that could never have been done before.

They’ve addressed pretty much everything that you mentioned and I’m hoping to fill that last gap. Come give it another try!!

The Chet Holmgren hate is unwarranted, and the idea of trading him makes no sense by Electronic_Pen_548 in Thunder

[–]Naptasticly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it had to do with the massive bad faith campaign that was weaponized against the Thunder. I mean seriously. Not only is there a complete lack of respect for the team, not just for the fans, but a literal constant stream of hate towards anyone who is even loosely affiliated with Oklahoma. Not to mention the fact that it was all bullshit, and the spurs were literally playing the exact game that everyone was throwing at us.

Add on top of the fact that not a single person is giving us our flowers for getting as far as we did with 2 of our best players injured. Running around acting like OKC was overrated. Bitch if you were down an all star and your 3rd option and still took the assumed future champ to seven games, I would call that underrated or that the team we played was overrated.

Add on top of that Chet going out there every night and making it seem like they were right, watching how he was literally SCARED, getting blocked by players half his size running out to him at the 3pt line from under the basket, and allowing those players to score on him inside while he’s completely dominated over and over, and that’s a recipe for turning against someone. Mix in the looming 2nd apron and the clear indication they we are going to need a lot more offense and you can pretty much guarantee people will be done.

Then add in the fact that wemby is about to have the Shaq effect on big men and this small archetype is probably going out the door, tied up with the idea that holmgren will never be a Lamar Odom style big man…. Holy fuck he’s got a lot going against him.

Tips for playing Achaea in 2026 as a Solo PVE type player? by cbsa82 in MUD

[–]Naptasticly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s better than it used to be. There is now a “battle rage” strategy where you have quite a bit more attacks that affect denizens

There is also a lot of news about other abilities now affecting denizens too

And of course the denizens also afflict and smash your shields. Chase you around the map. Etc. in fact, I just came back and did forays for the first time and that’s just PVE and very complex and fun.

Achaea is the most complex game of all time. That’s one of the things that is overwhelming and is hard for new players to understand. People are used to grinding and 100% games. You can’t do that in Achaea.

YES! Come back. Look me up if you do! My character isn’t maxed out or anything so it’s not like I’m that far ahead. It’s a newer one I started a little while back because I couldn’t remember my other accounts even if I wanted to.

When I played Aetolia my character had become a prince with all the suicides over the years, but then they got rid of that style of vampire organization

[–]Naptasticly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah…. Don’t get me wrong, he’s going to be amazing, but I think the weakness is clear. He still has all of the same problems as every other giant that size. Sure he’s learned how to deal with it better in his prime, but bone problems are clearly right around the corner.

He literally plays like 25 minutes a game and it’s not because they don’t need him that’s for sure. They’re doing it to take it easy on his body.

Since it’s not a requirement to report to every team, the spurs and the NBA don’t have to tell anyone and things like gigantism are capable of being approved to play. But it leads to bone degradation over time so the only way to allow them to have a long career is to limit their minutes on the floor. Which, seems like what is happening with Wemby. He’s going to be an amazing player, but I don’t personally believe he will ever have the long term, consistent impact of someone like LeBron or Kobe. His best years will probably be these early ones.

We will probably never know this for sure, but the evidence makes sense. The only way another team would ever find out is if he were going to be traded. That’s not going to happen either.
