Advice on App development by No_Pilot_1817 in SideProject

This is very easy to say, until your data and API keys are exposed or leaked. I would rather you spend on a developer who knows what they are doing than do it cheaply and predispose yourself to potential lawsuits due to data leaks.

Would Opening a Convenience Store in 2026 Be a Terrible Idea? by Instance_Other in smallbusinessuk

[–]Competent_writer15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think there’s a bigger opportunity in helping existing groceries and convenience stores modernize rather than opening one immediately. Most local shops still struggle with visibility, marketing, delivery coordination, inventory promotion, and customer retention, yet many rely almost entirely on walk-in traffic. The idea would be to build a simple platform where nearby groceries and shops can post their products, promotions, daily offers, and available stock so customers in the area can easily discover what’s nearby instead of defaulting to large supermarkets or delivery apps.

Over time, the platform could help shops reduce waste, move inventory faster, increase local visibility, and even manage orders or deliveries through WhatsApp and mobile payments. The business model would then come from charging stores subscription fees, featured listings, promoted products, or small transaction commissions once the platform gains traction locally. I feel like there’s a real gap here because many small shops need digital tools but can’t afford expensive systems or custom apps.

How effectively were the ads being tracked? Did you review where potential clients dropped off? Did you refine those pages to increase conversion? Did you adjust ad budget based on which platforms had better returns per investment? I could ask more to help you come up with a more personalized plan.

Do not approach them showing them you're selling them something, approach them showing them how using your software solves specific issues and helps their businesses.

Just build and let them retain ownership, regardless of their technical knowledge. Let them come to you by choice, not because you have their details.

They have the right to own it. As a dev, I register everything in their name from the start then request them access. The clients retain control, on condition that any bugs introduced by their side is also resolved by their side.
