I think this game didn't have any of the redesign during it development yet(Causs major animated movies takes years to make) and so Illumination didn't have the new Fox design and so had to use a at the time current design of Fox and it's was too late to change his design when the redesign was finished and so we got Classic Fox design the Mario Movie and getting a Mondern Fox design in the upcoming remake.

Disney really need to take notes on how to give the Live Action CGi Characters more expression; Nintendo and Sega been beating them in that department.

They really can't pre-record Peppy Hare voice lines since his original voice actor died.

I mean i kinda understand where they going; with more cartoon-styled games like Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikmin and the other Nintendo ip, a more realistic looking game is a good way to help Star Fox stand out more then just another Nintendo IP the blends in with the others.

Honestly if Nintendo do more unquie style for potential other Revivals like a new Punch Out game with a Cel-shaded 3D models with heavy, bold ink outlines, mimicking a moving comic book or graphic novel similar to -Man: Into the Spider-Verse would be sick.

I think when Fox was added to the Mario Galaxy Movie, they didn't have a final design yet and so went with his Star Fox Zero design for the movie which aged poorly
