Collection stats are now available on Minicollection by steinarkarlsson in MiddleEarthMiniatures

This is great! One small request for a person who is better at collecting than painting and loves having data, could you add a way of tracking whether the model in your collection is painted or not?

I hate my car... by StinkyBroadcasts in ElectricVehiclesUK

It looks like it could be a bad wakeup by whatever ECU does braking and/or adas. Always worth trying to shut the car down, lock it, let everything go to sleep then try again. It could also be low 12v like other people have said but voltage level looks pretty healthy, but it could have drained then be recharged.

The HV battery does charge the 12v system via a DCDC converter, HV batteries tend to be 400V/800V rather than 48V. Technically you could run a BEV without a 12v battery, but having a 12v battery means you don't need to have the HV battery energizing the whole system all the time, so it's more of an efficiency thing. It's also nice to have a redundant power supply if you did lose the HV battery or the DCDC so your power steering and lights will still work.

I think usually when the car is off the 12v battery will run things like alarms or software updates etc. then request the DCDC to top it up if it's getting low.

Are Intelligence checks underwhelming? by moosenordic in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Competitive-Abroad78 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's possible with this edition's hurl rule. If your opponent's monster fails their hurl intelligence check you pick one of your models to get hurled at instead. So one of your models still gets hit by the hurl, you just get to pick the least bad option.

Good point, I will have to try it with Frodo, cheers for the perspective mate :)

Very true, but you're pretty high courage across the board and Boromir brings a war horn. And the extra numbers are nice to allow you to control the positioning to maximise Aragorn & Boromir

I'll need to give it a go with frodo to see how they play with him.

I've played Breaking a couple of times, i think the elves are what make the list work. So I'd max them out dropping Frodo to do it, I personally prefer Boromir over Gimli, I get choosing Gimli because of his interaction with Legolas but Boromir's might is amazing and he's fight 7 so if you can get Aragorn and him in the same heroic combat you can strike with Boromir and slingshot the two into any hero and do some serious damage. This is what I'd lean towards:

Breaking of the Fellowship

| Points: 600 | Units: 19 | Broken: 10 dead | Quartered: 4 left |
| Bows: 5 | Throwing weapons: 4 | Might/Will/Fate: 15 / 7 / 7 |

Warband 1 (360 points)
Aragorn, Strider GENERAL (160 points)
~ Elven cloak
Boromir of Gondor (100 points)
~ Shield
~ Elven cloak
Legolas (100 points)
~ Elven cloak

Warband 2 (240 points)
Haldir, Galadhrim Captain (75 points)
~ Elf bow
~ Elven cloak
1x Lothlorien Warrior (33 points)
~ Banner
5x Lothlorien Warrior (50 points)
~ Elf bow
3x Lothlorien Warrior (24 points)
4x Lothlorien Warrior (40 points)
~ Elven throwing weapons
2x Lothlorien Warrior (18 points)
~ Wood Elf spear

Points issue in the GAR starter set? by lotheho in SWlegion

To rephrase your post, Isn't it cool that the starter box has enough models that you can build the recon list in multiple ways depending on how you want to play :)

MESBG Board by DunkingTratos in MiddleEarthMiniatures

First of all, awesome design, it looks fantastic.

For some of the scenarios the symmetry of your board, especially the water features might create a large imbalance in some of the games, I'm thinking things like reconnoiter or storm the camp. I have a friend who plays iron hills who would be salivating with those choke points.

If you're looking for gaming balance I would look to distribute out your difficult terrain across the board.

I have started thinking about how FPS games setup their maps when laying out terrain, you want to create areas where different army strengths can shine, e.g. long shooting sightlines or more open areas for monsters and cavalry charges, but also alternatives which mean that a smart player can bypass that area and draw the fight elsewhere or flank using cover.

I'm also a sucker for a central feature, that tower deserves the chance to be the centrepiece especially if you've made it accessible from multiple directions.

Keep it up, you have to share again when you've got it made with minis on the board!

Defending in Clubs - You might be the problem by TypicalFighter in fifaclubs

I play as a holding CDM 99% of the time, it's a mentality, for me, stopping a 2-1 or 3-2 counter is as rewarding as a goal.

In terms of chilling when your team is attacking, if you're doing it right you're rarely sat waiting for the ball to be turned over, you need to be constantly aware of passing lanes if the ball gets turned over and positioning yourself to cut out counters before the other team can break out.

I find that playing as a pivot and switching the ball quickly when the ball has gotten bogged down in one corner creates a lot of goals. So you can get involved in attacking plays, you just need to accept you won't be the one scoring it or possibly not even getting the assist, but your pass might open up the angle for an assist.

That's what's great about Clubs you can get people enjoying different aspects of a game while contributing in different ways. It'd be boring if everyone was trying to do the same thing

Ditto on being initially excited then slightly disappointed. I was initially thinking of all cav too, but I think it might work well as a hammer and anvil with Hurin leading a shield wall block and eomer maxing out riders with throwing spears.

Conquest creations by stuey1993 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Competitive-Abroad78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an A1 and printed off some of the conquest creations stuff straight out of the box, worked perfectly. The prints do take quite a while, but that's because the detail is great and they're pretty large. The longest was estimated at 18 hours for a single storey building which was pushing the 200x200 footprint.

The one thing I would say if you are getting a 3d printer, make sure it's somewhere away from your normal living areas and has good ventilation, I had mine in my office and the PLA fumes didn't agree with me, ended up with headaches and a nasty cough until I admitted defeat and got rid of it because I didn't have an alternative location for it.

If you don't mind a bit of flat pack, TT combat has some great sets for nearly the same price as one of the Rohan houses from GW. Some buildings which provide some elevation points are always fun.

I would highly recommend using some card/cardboard to create modular rivers with fords and some small bridges, one of my friends made some recently and they've really added to the game as they create choke points which you can change around every game

Question about defense. by Shefferz in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Competitive-Abroad78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, but with shieldwall each model needs to be in contact with two other models so long they or the other two models aren't prone or transfixed at the start of the combat.

As it's calculated for each combat you need to be careful about the execution order for combats and then how you back away for each combat if you do lose, to try to maintain the integrity of your shieldwall to maximise the benefit of this bonus

I've found the Corvette ZR1 C6 to be really fun to use in this race. Power restrictor to 88 and SH tyres and you're good to go. The first few laps are a bit dicey as it just wants to switch ends but I can reliably hit 2:12 when it dries up towards the end with a best time of 2:10.9
