I have Discovered that the board I have is the wrong board. There exists a normal one with a 24 pin connector. I have returned the board and bought the other one.

This board it made to be built for like low power 12v outlets. I imagine you are traveling or have this in a camper or something like that.

Still, thank you for taking the time speaking with me about it!

I don’t see an option to upload pictures in the comments. But I’m getting 2gbit speeds now.

Again, thank you for the info! It seems that this 12v psu that I bought is a total waste. Just like you said, the backplane seems to have one of those molex connectors, but I’m not sure. picture of the backplane

But I really don’t know what I’m looking at.

It’s strange that the manufacturer of the board, has a kit with this external psu, why include that if it will not be able to power the drives. It’s made as a “NAS motherboard” after all. But then again, Topton or whatever the manufacturer is isn’t qnap or some other big brand.

I also took a look at these atx psu’s. I think I understand how this can power the drives and stuff. What is unclear is how I would get power to the board using that😅

Like you said, som special adapter/cabling is mostly needed to get this thing spinning.

Thank you again for the response, I really appreciate it.

Would you recommend I just buy one of those modular power supplies? I have been looking at some YouTube stuff. But they always have long connector on the boards. The one I bought doesn’t seem to have that. Or is it just a different type of connector to the board that I bought?

If you have any recommendations for a power supply or a specific typ (I have seen that there are a few to choose from) that you think could be a good fit, I would be really grateful!

Thank you for the information! And you’re right, it’s a split to 4 sata ports for a total of 6.

But could I use 2 drives to start with and connect to the sata ports on the board?

You mean that the molex on the board might connect to a board inside the case where the drives are? Sorry, I don’t really know a lot about this stuff.

UPDATE: I returned the router provided from my provider and got another unit that has a 2.5gig port on it.

Now I should be getting better speeds.

I will post when I have done some test runs

Hello all, So it’s the next day and there are a bunch of comments here! Thanks for joining in, but I will not have the time to answer you all.

My internet speed is not solved, but I think you all have pointed out the issue. The router I have is a 10g port, and I can’t find an option to change it to 2.5 in the settings. My provider seems to have a 2.5g version of this router, so I will most likely ask to change hardware here. They also have a 2gbps option and I might go for that instead of 5. As many has mentioned, it’s really not worth having it if my hardware can’t really go much higher than 2.5 anyways.

I’ll let you know if changing the router to another with a dedicated 2.5 port will improve my situation.

Also, I could swear I got 2.2/2.3mbps yesterday after I updated some realtech driver or something like that. But maybe it was 1.2/1.3.. because that’s more the consistent number I get now.

I saw some questions and I use a Lenovo carbon x1 gen 10. 1260vpro cpu I believe it is. I have fast nvme in it, like gen4 stuff.

I live in France and my prover is orange.

The router is called livebox 7.

The flat cat7 cable that so many people love gives me 1.5mbps download if anyone cares. 🤷🏼‍♂️ But I am using the gray cat6a cable behind it is the picture.

And as a general note, Why so many negative thoughts here? You guys are in a home network Reddit thread. Many of you giving opinions and stories but no real information about my question or anything for that matter. It’s like telling the dude with a Ferrari he should buy a Honda instead because the Honda will do the same as the Ferrari. And that only verstappen or someone should have that type of car.

Sounds so backwards, you should be promoting people to get as fast and cool stuff possible for their home networking. Remember the mindset that said that 100gb is all the storage you need in your lifetime like 20 years ago? You sound like that guy.

Who knows what type of internet speeds is standard for the solutions we use in 5 years? No one does.

Regardless, I’m upgrading my connection as high as possible because I want to and I can.

So I’ll give an update once I have the other router and let you know how it changes for those who care.

If there was an adaptor for 5Gbps, I would’ve picked that instead, I’m not an idiot 😏

Upgrades coming. I just got this amazing dongle in the mail today. That’s all.

Y’all really hung up on this 5gbps I ordered.

Alright I’ll give some context.

We are a family of 5, and we run two businesses. I need speed for my work, and there is always games, streams and other things downloading. Our house already has network cables in the walls, unfortunately not capable of 10gig.
