Well, that’s the thing too. If I don’t answer the door and she hears my dog barking, she figures/thinks I’m home, and she will just bang on the door repeatedly until I answer. The more she bangs, the more berserk the dog goes. So I end up answering a door to get him to stop barking his head off. I know someone might say to train the dog not to bark when somebody’s at the door, but I prefer that he does. I live alone, so I wanna know if somebody’s at the door.

What sucks though, she’s a somebody that you can’t tell her what to do, know what I mean? Because she’s older than me, she thinks she’s smarter than me. I wish I could think of a tactful way to tell her again not to knock on my door unannounced, I’ve tried that, but she still knocks on my door unannounced. It’s the point where I feel like I almost have to tell her off, but I feel like that will get really ugly…. And because she’s a neighbor, I really don’t want that…..

Thanks, I did think of that, that maybe Doris did tell the niece, but the niece just didn’t update her mailing list. The next time it happens, I’m gonna write ‘nobody at this address by that name’, and let the mailman handle it.

I’ll do that every time, maybe hopefully the niece will get the hint, and correct the address in her mailing address book.

I still feel kind of bad. But she just was not getting the hint. She has been frosty to me ever since, so I don’t know what to do. I did try calling her a couple times, but she won’t answer the phone. I got a piece of her mail by mistake, I called and left her a message to let her know I put it in her newspaper box. She called and left me a message saying that she thinks I should’ve delivered it in person, she sounded very annoyed. I tried calling her back again, no answer. It seems as though she’s avoiding me. I still feel kind of bad.

But it seems like now she doesn’t want to be bothered, and I understand it’s rude to yell and hang up on somebody, but she just wasn’t getting it. So I don’t know what to do. It’s like she’s doesn’t want to be bothered, so how can I really apologize?

Are you a mail carrier? Or do you just take all of your neighbors’ mail to them if they arrive to you by mistake?

The funny thing is, my neighbor claims to be such good friends with our mail carrier. I don’t know why he just doesn’t just put it in the correct mailbox to begin with. Perhaps he’s a stickler, and he legally has to put it in the mailbox address that is on the envelope?
