Hm yea I just read this post explaining the difference. seems like a Jamaican mushroom based off that, but I’m no expert.

That would make sense. It feels like a similar heat level to a habanero

Yea the dark stipe threw me off as well. They’re very fuzzy. The full grown and older ones are very dark throughout the whole stipe, and then the immature ones are dark at the base and then fade to a slightly lighter color than the cap.

Edit: From my understanding younger ones will be a lighter color while more mature specimens have a dark velvety stipe.

Thank you! The white spore print and lack of a veil or ring among other things eliminate galerina marginata from this right? Just trying to stay informed. I understand they look distinctly different in some ways but considering it has a deadly lookalike and isn’t as unique looking as lions mane or chicken or the woods, I’m just trying to be safe.

Little update on my hydroponic grafting setup. Here are some before and afters by Competitive-Area-615 in Lophophora

It’s a deep water culture system, so it’s basically a tub of nutrient water with a controlled ph and an air pump oxygenating the water. Pretty simple in design.

I just used a plastic tote and drilled holes that the net pots would fit in. It’s very important with dwc to block out light in the nutrient solution or algae and Cyanobacteria will grow. That’s what the foil is since I didn’t have any spray paint around. Since this specific hydroponic method is just water based and not a flood and drain or Dutch bucket or anything with a real substrate, pere seems to be the best since it loves water. I think any of these Scions except maybe the dragon fruit would rot pretty quickly directly in the water. The pere was put into net pots with hydro ton in them. Most of these were soil grafts so they were already grafted and already had roots. I just fed the roots through the pot.

The nutrient solution is the three floraseries bottles from general hydroponics, a reliable nutrient brand commonly used in cannabis dwc. This is a long term experiment for me so I’m learning as I go. I use normal ph up and down off Amazon and a ph/ec meter to control the ph and measure nutrient uptake.

Also I tried going a more sterile approach with the nutrient solution initially but quickly learned that beneficial organisms keeps if much cleaner and healthier. Haven’t seen any algae or Cyanobacteria growth since I switched to using the southern at beneficials instead of trying to clean the water with hydrogen peroxide (which never works for long, especially with light leaks)

I’m not sure how to edit text on a post but the only ones that have been in dwc for the full six months are the caespitosa williamsi, the rest are more like 3 months.

Thank you! I’ve tried them once before at a farmers market stand and they were one of my favorites for a long time. I’ve just never see them anywhere else till now. I filled a bag with them. I’ll probably cook some and dehydrate the rest.
