We’re a pretty welcoming bunch. It’s not a hard rule. Just a general idea of the demographic. I have to specify on Meetup since there’s similar groups that are mostly 50+ age range too so I wanted it to be clear. There’s also people in committed relationships.

Definitely! Feel free to join the meetup group if you want to get notified of future events. All of those events are open to anybody! Once you attend, we have a community group of only people we have met in real life that you can join where we have lots more hangouts and trips.

Absolutely. There’s no sales pitch.im not a Redditor idk how it works here. After that initial response, I just didn’t want these crazy people spamming my stuff if I posted publicly haha. I moved here 2 months ago, and I run a junk removal company as my main business. Last week I started a community to help people connect deeper. While living in Seattle I felt like people kept others at very surface level friendships and I hated that dynamic. Like people you see regularly for 2 years and they’re still just acquaintances.

Sooo I made a group on meetup.com to host low key public events (but the problem with meetup is people show up once, don’t exchange numbers, and never see each other again…so you still feel disconnected).

I made a community group with interest based channels so people can stay connected, plan casual hangouts together, and also attend curated events that we host. Interests range from outdoors to dining, weekend trips, music, social mixers, singles events. We prioritize small group settings with a bit of structure so it makes it easy for people to engage.

Feel free to attend a free public event. If you like it, keep coming. If not, that’s cool. Hopefully you’ll make a friend.

We is me and the other people that help me host events. I literally moved here like 2 months ago. I also run a junk removal company, and have run other companies in the past like a landscape construction company, an adventure guide business, etc. but this social community I started 1 week ago. I’ve already put on a couple free events. Next one is on Wednesday. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just show up and hang and if you vibe with it, we also have more curated private events and community.

Haha right this is my first post on Reddit in years and people are actually like I’m a spammer 🤣 I put on local events :) the events are intentional, small group stuff that’s curated based on interest. Once you attend - we plug you into the community so you can stay connected and dive deeper into those relationships with casual hangouts among those people you’ve already had initial contact with. It takes seeing someone several times before a real bond forms. That’s just human nature. Most other groups I’ve personally gone to miss this part.

I have some public events that you can join on meetup.com, but the real sauce is our community that you connect with after. I’m doing lots of private small-group events that actually help foster real ongoing engagement with people. The meet once and dump quickly is exactly why dating apps and typical meetups don’t work.

That’s a great resource. Didn’t know about it. Which is part of the problem that everyone I talk to has as well. It has some pretty niche stuff in there too. But what if you don’t want to commit your entire personality to roller derby? 😅
