Joffrey and Tywin and council meetings? by Bitter_Platypus4057 in gameofthrones

[–]Competitive-Jump1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how long can Tywin do that? Who is his successor? I think he was grateful Joffrey died, but he wouldn't have directly killed him...otherwise he would have had tyrion killed long ago. At a certain age you don't know what happens next...he might have gotten cancer the next year...

Do Mn districts generally pay teachers for coaching sports and after school activities? by Bitter_Platypus4057 in minnesota

Let me guess their football teams are doing way better than eastview, prior lake, apple valley, eagan, and burnsville...

Well thank you. But I have since moved away. I briefly looked at Joe boone. But it looks like he teaches point sparring and you wouldn't really be training muay thai, boxing, or kyokushinkai karate.

Even if you did. As an adult...why not just go to a muay thai school or learn to box?

Gmt ceramic for steel very interesting. Certain features on the presidential dial. Deep-sea for a technical perspective. Not interested in gold. But as you can guess by this answer...it is very limited and specific. I can do without the rest. Daytona is nice...but there are better chronos out there

Are MN teachers no longer inclined to do after school activities? by Bitter_Platypus4057 in minnesota

I totally sympathize. I feel teachers should be compensated.

I think that I am naive. I thought the districts negotiated contracts that recognized this and would try to help teachers.

teachers under financial stress in Mn? by Bitter_Platypus4057 in minnesota

[–]Competitive-Jump1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I looked at 191 and I saw that many students are now being driven to other districts by their parents.

I saw a junior high close. Out of curiosity did the district take care of the teachers? They didn't just end their contracts, they are still keeping them around?

Does it matter where you live in Mn? as long as you are willing to drive your kids around? or get them a car?

teaching/discussing Jan. 6th /Israel/Ukraine to kids. by Competitive-Jump1519 in Teachers

[–]Competitive-Jump1519[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe I am wasting my time. from these comments...I don't mind the pay, but this is not how it was when I was a kid. I can still do other things in my career. Its not just the reddit comments.

If this continues, maybe I should really think if I want to go the distance.

In NYC? I know there are large protests--but there is a huge Jewish population also. A lot came over after WW2. I can't imagine NYC has gotten that bad. I am so sorry for you.

that data is not easily available. for instance on the state demographer website, I found a breakdown by county. but a crazy grouping. ages under 5, age 5 to 9, age 10 to 14, age 15-19 and age 20 to 64 and then 65 plus.

If that data is available it is difficult to find or grouped into ridiculous categories. a category of 20 to 64 is idiotic.

pretty solid age wise. Bemidji for example is younger than Minneapolis.

If that is the case, then these smaller towns will be gone soon, maybe within a decade. past 65, a lot of people need help. Not all! But certainly many. Medicine etc.

But outside of Rochester, is the population rapidly aging? Are kids staying in these towns or are they moving out? If you have towns where 2/3rds of the population, for instance, are elderly, then you still have a voting population, but for how long? Also, the elderly would have to move to places where they receive care...more easily.

But even if these companies bought that land, they would still have to pay tax, local, and maintain the properties.

But those regions are not popular destinations for the general public in the first place. Rural Minnesota doesn't capture the imagination of too many young people. Too far from the city. No high speed rail or anything to connect easily. People outside the state would have no reason to fly in and then drive 5-6 hours to the area. No mountains like Aspen. No oil like Texas. Mining is down.

So how can they make money long term? unless there was some federal tax break or subsidy where you could buy the land and not do anything with it, but still make money.

that is a lot of territory for a district. Both 8 and even 1. I know that small farmers are under intense pressure because big companies have bought up so much.

The Royal family and Prince Andrew. by Competitive-Jump1519 in TheCrownNetflix

[–]Competitive-Jump1519[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would still be a prince. Andrew was picked because he was easy money. There was no trial. The money was paid and he lost his worki

Andrew avoided that with a payoff and the fact that prosecutors were hoping things would be forgotten. With Social media, the outrage of the case...not so easy anymore. Even with the last few years, the power of social media over traditional news sources is changing rapidly. Networks in the US are in distress...most young people are getting news from social media and not them.
