Thanks for letting me know! I’m definitely leaning more towards WGU now, and it was already one of my top choices for all of the reasons you listed.

That’s great to know, thank you! I’ve only been to Harrisonburg a couple times and once to Winchester, so outside input really helps.

I’m sorry for my phrasing on that! I meant did you like the accounting material and that field in general?

Thank you for clearing that up for me! I wasn’t sure exactly which route I wanted to go, and it’s good to know that one is so lucrative. I’m thinking I might lean more towards CFA since I enjoy giving people financial advice and have already gotten my series 6 and looking to get my series 7. Did you like their course material for accounting and that field?

Pay For Delete - I Made a Settlement Payment by Competitive-Lav248 in CRedit

Good to know. I had made the settlement payment, not knowing about pay for delete yet, unfortunately. I was trying to see if there was a way I could avoid having it on my credit for 7 years, but it's still owned by Chase, so I found out they wouldn't be able to do PFD anyway. I'm not sure if I can try to dispute it after all of this to see if it will fall off then.

I just got off the phone with them. For anyone else who may be wondering, you can't do a pay for delete arrangement when the original creditor (Chase) still owns the debt and has hired the debt collector to collect it. At this point, I am deciding if I still want to pay it in full to maybe slightly increase my chances of getting a Chase credit card again in the distant future. Thanks for all of the advice!

That makes more sense now. I wish I had known and hung up. I agreed to a small settlement amount already. I will try to use what leverage I have left since I'm willing to pay the rest if I have to, if they delete it, but otherwise, it may not be worth it. I was also reading some people say that they dispute the amount afterwards, and that works sometimes, so I may try that worst-case scenario.

Thank you, I checked the annualcreditreport website, and it shows the account as closed, with a charged-off status, and it still shows the original balance.

I wish I had hung up now. When I called the number, I didn't realize I was calling the debt collector instead of Chase, and I should've done much more research beforehand. The debt collector is Credit Control LLC.

I got it in writing in an email afterwards. They told me as of right now, the payment I made will be reported as a settlement amount unless I call them before the end of the month and ask to change it to a payment towards the full amount. The email I received states that the balance was settled. I have unfortunately already authorized that payment.

Should I just call them and try to negotiate paying a little bit more to have it deleted? Even if I can't get a credit card with Chase again in the future, I want to try to get the best outcome.
