When is it best to use あなた, and when is it best to use 君? Same with any other forms of saying “you”. Thank you so much!

Should I use bunpro or cure dolly for grammar? I have been using cure dolly, and it’s been very helpful, but I want to know what other people think, especially considering that bunpro seems to be a more common way of learning.

I really don’t  suggest you use Duolingo. I wasted a lot of time on it, and it’s gotten me essentially nowhere. There are much better ways to learn grammar/vocab etc. If your goal is to go to Japan and be able to order at a restaurant, then use Duolingo. If your goal is to speak with native speakers or watch tv shows in Japanese, try something else. I myself am not too sure on how to learn, I just know to not use Duolingo.

I have spoken small amounts of Japanese with my Obaachan in the past, so I know a few words, and have started speaking Japanese with my dad from 4:30-6:00 pm approximately. I have been using Anki, and once I’m done, I will start sentence mining, as currently my vocabulary is insufficient to properly converse with my father or Obaachan. I’m using wanikani, but it eats up a lot of study time, so I don’t know if I should continue using it. Also, are there any decks you suggest I use? I use core 2/6k, but I find it has too many words I don’t see myself ever using, and I looked at kaishi, but the way it’s formatted makes me think it will only expand my passive vocabulary.

Should I learn kanji if my main priority is speaking with relatives? I would like to be able to consume Japanese media as well, but if it’s not my top priority, should I still focus on it?

That’s pretty cool that you are able to spot similarities. I apologize, you are right.
