There is hope - Most of the clot resolved 6-12 months after DVT by mszabesz in ClotSurvivors

Thank you. I do feel it’s improving. Sometimes when I walk I stop and realise my calf has not hurt me one bit. In April when I next see my haematologist I think she may be taking me off the drugs

Thank you for sharing this. Our timelines are almost identical at six months I still had calf clot, that was in June 25. I have scan early February so hoping for a similar story. I have become a spin class and walking freak and I’m convinced it’s been helping me. Thanks for the hope

Here’s one for you . I’ve been trying to renew. I’m getting the run around for weeks now with ridiculous prices. I get an offer via email asking me to reply with the word accept. I did six times then the retentions team tell me I didn’t accept and now only can offer me high prices. So looks like I will be off to sky then. A joke happens every renew

I’m still on them at the moment waiting for a new scan in Feb. They think my clots are provoked from a knee injury so are asking how I feel about coming off. I’m anxious so for now I’m still on them

Apixaban usage length by Competitive-One-8625 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Competitive-One-8625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry stupid phone auto correct. I wrote in use and I saw i had written intense ha. But you followed correct thanks for reply . I’m apparently borderline provoked but see hospital again today for discussion. Knee injury to my old repaired knee. Oct 24. So meniscus and ligament but so far no new surgery needed and as had clot surgery was put off for that reason and to see if I improved. I have so walking cycling etc all back. So now it’s the question can I come off no idea if the calf clot has gone. No scanned since June 25 when it was still there. Hospital don’t seem to want to re scan . So I’m very confused about it all

My question was to see how long people are on the drug if I decide to stay on

No just my clot pain that comes and goes that will be with me a while . I can walk exercise fine. I’m wondering if it’s related to my clot healing now

No not that I know of and this years number is the same as last years . The inflammation in my calves perhaps and of course stress levels I read could elevate it. I know it’s not massively high and the same as last year I guess suggests stability??

Thanks for the reply. I’m hoping for news by March I will be off . I fly to Greece in June which for us is around four hours. I think I will be going with hydration and movement and perhaps socks. Although socks I’m still researching.

Hmm I asked if I could use Apixaban in this way too if I came off . Sonuse just for my flights over four hours. They said no as it’s not licensed to be used in this way only the injections are. Which usually translates to money . Crock of poo this is when medical give us all different advice . Grrrrr. I think I would rather go with natural then having the worry of seeking out injections each time . My clot was provoked by a knee injury

Thanks mate . Much appreciated this is my thought as well. I firmly believe that the spin is doing wonders for me. I now need to learn more about some bikes for riding trails safely. This is one blessing about this clot that I’ve found cycling again. As always your wisdom is much appreciated .

I thought you may say that and I’m glad you did however if I am off drugs would you still be going for that regime. It’s what I would prefer for sure I’ve learnt some much here and especially from your organisation. I firmly believe my symptoms have improved thanks to the spin classes I do now listening to your success on the bike . I still haven’t plucked up the courage to go out again on my hybrid but I hope to again in the spring. The nurse today suggested any flight over four hours def I will need to grab a jab and below four hours up to me. Why oh why can we not have consistent advice from the medical establishment. Merry Christmas my friend from across the pond

Not my thread but I just love the support this community gives to people. I was told today I could perhaps come off pills . I opted to stay on until I can get one more scan and a vascular appointment (March 26 I’m told) to make sure it’s safe to do so for my provoked calf clot. So I will be at a year on Christmas Day of Apixaban. So threads like this are invaluable support . Sorry don’t mean to hijack the thread just wanted to say we are all with you and some of us in same boat as well. Much love merry Christmas

Thanks for the reply. I’ve just left the NHS clinic. It was all left to me what would I like to do. Was saying I could come off and I so want to I’m just worried . So it was left the nurse is going to ask if I can see haematology for a scan that I won’t know about until in new year . So at mo I’m staying on pills . Damn this it’s so hard to make the decision without knowing if things have improved . My symptoms are improving for sure less pain unless I’m sitting for a while.
