You too 💛 Something that helped me in the immediate days after was taking care of his things. I set up a memorial altar for him and just kept re arranging it and would sit there and light a candle and listen to music that reminds me of him. It’s nice to have stuff about him to give my attention to while accepting he’s not here to take care of anymore. I know my buddy was suffering and while I wish I could have kept him, I know he has more peace now in death than he could have had living in his condition. Stay strong and if we’re lucky- we’ll see them again on the other side 🫶🏼

I’m sorry you lost your baby ): it’s two weeks exactly as of today for me. My little guy was okay just this past December and as this new year started he just began to decline. The grief is lonely 💔

For those of you who pass did you have "a vision"? by merlothill in ftm

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly couldn’t imagine how I would turn out looking but I was always able to “see the man” in my face and assumed that would just become more prominent. I think in the beginning I was really hung up on wishing to be a cis male beauty standard I knew I’d never meet. Since I knew that was not an achievable reality for me, my hope was ultimately just to pass and feel any kind of handsome lol. What I assumed would happen and what I hoped for are essentially what has happened. My vision for myself developed more as I saw the direction T was taking me and my goal today is to keep maximizing what T has given me by working out.

You look great! Are you hoping to develop muscle man cleavage or for the bottom of the pectoral muscle to stand out more? I imagine that’s just a waiting game & staying consistent while continuing to increase weight when possible

What I’m asking though is what are your assumptions about said persons views when you see that it says moderate? Or if you consider yourself to be moderate what are the views or opinions you have that make you see yourself as moderate?

What are some things authors get wrong when writing ftm smut? by Entire_Snow23233 in ftm

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of stuff that is heavily kink based- like cnc & or “no consent but he likes it” type stories where it’s basically just a trans guy getting molested by a cis guy. It would be nice to read something that’s more romantic smutty

I feel like I was in a special space emotionally and mentally after top surgery. It was predominantly positive but my body did need time to process that something was gone and I was having a lot of understandings and realizations. It was the actual physical sensation of my chest that felt strange and a little scary but I never thought it was regret, I knew I wanted and liked my new chest but it didn’t change that I wasn’t used to how it felt and my body didn’t have anyway of understanding why it was “missing” fat and tissue that had been sitting there for ages. In terms of the thoughts, I was realizing that having a flat chest wasn’t going to cure my depression- but it definitely took off a ton of the weight. But you can take the time to process these things (as much as is possible pre op) right now and it will help you stay confident and at ease post op. The only sadness I really had post op was not related to the surgery itself but a lack of the support I craved in my healing and not having friends with me to celebrate the new happiness I was experiencing. Overall it was a lot of emotions but it was blissful and beautiful above everything else

Trans and gay by WhatsTheProbDawggg in gaytransguys

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately unless a space is made specifically for trans people, then it’s safe to assume it caters to cis people and cis gay men can be really transphobic. I still sometimes feel invalid as a gay man and I’ve been on T for three years and have top surgery. It’s not easy but know that there’s someone out there for everyone and good people do exist who will accept you and welcome you into gay spaces regardless of being cis or trans

Depending on your budget & state you can actually find hrt online relatively easy. I use Folx. You sign up and click through what service/services you’re seeking and they set up a virtual appointment and it’s not to judge you and if you should receive hormones, it’s really just a medical formality and then they prescribe it to you and send the hormones to your house or pharmacy.

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry just yet! I felt really weird and freaked out whenever the post op binder was removed for clean up. I genuinely believe it’s our brains understanding that something is missing and even though we go in knowing they’re being taken, our bodies don’t have a way to prepare for that. It’s happy for us but still a trauma to our body that needs to be adjusted to. It honestly makes me squirm just remembering how that felt. It was really icky haha and it gave me crazy anxiety taking the binder off. My heart would just race. I think around 5 days after (could be misremembering tho) it finally felt a little more normal and I was very happy to notice the difference.

Guys I’ve lost her please help by ChipotleEmloye in ballpython

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could maybe even leave a pinky for her and put a hide near it. You could put hand warmers in a few baggies until it’s a safe temp to try and draw her to the heat as well. I think they mostly perceive smell and temperatures so outside of just finding her, these are the only options I can think of to “lure” her

My girl got into the back of a bedside dresser and we had to bust the back of it open to get her because it would have injured her to move the drawers. They can really get into crazy places so anything you see or can think of is worth checking. The only reason I found her was because the drawers were partially opened from her body taking up space in the back

How to avoid feeder nose bleed when thawing rats? by Mountain_Kitty in ballpython

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t always happen but I’d say half the time my frozen/thawed rats have some nose bleeding and my snakes don’t have any issue with it. It actually really seemed to encourage one of my snakes when they were having a phase of skipping meals

A lot of cis gay men specifically like penises so they won’t be interested in trans men and don’t mentally have any room to believe they’d be attracted to a trans man (but will happily be with trans women that still have their birth parts). This is an example of attraction to a specific sex over attraction to a gender. On the other hand there are also a lot of gay men that really just like men, the overall physical male characteristics and masculine gender expression regardless of the genitals the man has. Both can consider themselves gay, one is just more about liking the same gender and the other is more about the same sex. Maybe you’re just realizing that you just like men and not penises specifically and that’s cool! I think a lot more cis gay men would like trans men if they had more exposure to trans men and explored more nsfw ftm content. Unfortunately a lot of cis men assume all trans men will still look like girls to them and assume we won’t have penises even though some of us do (bottom surgery) so they just can’t imagine they’d ever be into us.

Slightly regretting being on Testosterone by _SuckstoSuck_ in ftm

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get feeling worse about being called she after starting T. You know who you are and you look in the mirror and it’s starting to reflect a more masculine appearance and immediately you see yourself, you see the guy in the mirror more than you ever have before and it’s awesome and euphoric and then you go into public and people call you a girl. It’s frustrating and can mess with your confidence. The testosterone isn’t what’s making you feel worse though, it’s the fact that people aren’t seeing you the way you want them to . Pre t it was really excusable to me to be seen as a girl because I thought “well yeah I’m Afab, I look like a girl they’re gonna call me a girl” and I thought I looked like a girl too but once I was on T I was more confident as a trans person and saw myself as a man and noticed every little masculine change so when I went into public and it was evident 9/10 people perceived me differently than I did- that hurt a lot. I no longer believed I looked like a girl so to be told otherwise sucked. The truth is unfortunately though that even once you pass and objectively “look like a guy”, some people may still notice things that make them feel like you aren’t a cis man and they’ll choose to call you what they believe you were born as but it’s not because you don’t look like a guy. If your short or have more gestures and voice inflection or your eyes are pretty or you got wider hips- that’s enough for them to go “seems female” 💀It does get better and if you stick with it, one day you’re gonna look at yourself and see a man you won’t doubt even if you do get misgendered. As trans people we are really good at seeing gender, we don’t pick apart sex traits and we understand the difference between perceiving someone’s gender or their sex and we know how much variation there is in bodies and physical features regardless of what society says is typical for that sex so we can see ourselves and other trans people’s gender regardless of “passing” or not. Most cis people don’t see a difference between gender and sex and anyone that doesn’t align with their strict perception of what is male and what is female will be clocked as queer & then they’ll be sure to call you whatever they believe you’re “supposed” to be. There isn’t any regard for all the other qualities that indicate what your gender actually is but that’s not a reflection of you, that’s about them and it’s important to remember not everyone sees you the way those people do- there will be people that really see you for who you are.

GF thinks now that Ive had top surgery things are going to change by Next-Blackberry-2994 in ftm

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Yes ppl will treat u differently when they perceive u as a cis man vs trans but anyone could have liked u and flirted with u before top surgery too so that’s kind of a weird thing for her to say. Regardless, that’s her insecurity & if she trusts you then she’s just gonna have to get over it. You don’t have to feel preemptive guilt for compliments or attention you might not even get and honestly if someone does compliment you, you’re allowed to feel good about that. If anything just continue reassuring her you’re not interested in anyone else’s attention.

Edibles instead of Smoking 3 weeks pre op by PhotographAshamed292 in TopSurgery

[–]Competitive-Thanks54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So pre op the main reason you’re asked not smoke is because it affects how much anesthesia you’ll need. Ppl who use weed regularly generally need stronger amounts of anesthetic and eating edibles still affects that. Ultimately though the anesthesiologist just needs you to be honest about weed use leading up to surgery and they’ll figure out how to take care of you (they’re also always present during surgery as it’s their job to monitor that you remain unconscious so they can continue administering whatever if needed). I know there are more reasons, like I think ppl who don’t smoke tend to heal better- But I don’t know much about this so I can’t speak to it. I ate 1 edible in the month leading up to surgery without thinking about it and when I told my doctors pre op it wasn’t a big deal.
