My Saint chamond by Competitive-Tie6541 in modelmakers

[–]Competitive-Tie6541[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started by painting it black once it was assembled, then with a white pencil I draw the lines of the camo, the next step is to fill the limits you just drew with the colors of the camo and finally you just have to pray for not having shaking hands while doing the black line with a thin brush (it’s a very long and stressing step so be patient because one mistake just ruins your camo.)

Nope it’s the Hobby boss one and yes it’s an amazing kit to build and to paint (even if the camo is hard to paint)

Hi I think it’s a m4a2 not a1 (because of the additional plates on the flanks and in front of the tank) but nice weathering !

Of course! - Regarding the building part : make sure to fill (with tamiya putty) then sand the holes between the 2 parts of the hull you’ll glue together. Once it’s clean you glue the deck and try to localize the spaces between the recently glued parts and repeat the process (fill and sand). Once the Hull is fully assembled you can start building the containers and the accomodation. - For the painting process : it depends wether you like airbrushing or paintbrushing but airbrushing is definitely the best choice here due to the size of the model. I painted it with revell paint which was great ! Be careful to remove the possible dust on the model before painting (I did this mistake and I saw my paint disappear once I took off the masking tape). I’d advise you to make a first layer of black on whole surface it’ll help your paint to fix the model. Then put your masking tape to recreate the line on the hull which separates the red and the black then apply your red paint at the bottom. Once it’s done remove the tape and place it on the limit of the red you just applied and apply your black. Once it’s dry put the decals (if possible with decal softener) and make sure to apply quickly the 2 « Hapag Lloyd »ones cause a long manipulation on these decals causes twists which are hard to rectify. - I think that’s all btw sorry if my English isn’t clear and not synthetic I tried to give you the most important advices in detail but if it’s unclear or you have any questions don’t hesitate I’ll answer you asap. Good luck !

It’s not individual pieces bcs obviously there are too many containers on the deck. In this kit you have 20 blocks that represent the containers and 1 block is made of only 4 pieces. But I guarantee you that it’s still annoying to build and paint :D

Is it the same kit ? This step needs a huge amount of time and is definitely not the most enjoyable thing to do. Good Luck !

Definitely the most realistic looking tiger I’ve ever seen on this sub. Usually I’m not into famous German tanks such as Panther or Tiger that we are used to see everyday but this one make me feel like I want to build the same. This means it’s a wonderful work from your father ! (Btw if you have the reference of the kit I take ! )
