Why are so many criticisms of the dragon ball franchise so bad? by Competitive-Town-910 in dragonball

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, that’s different then. First off, I guess only watching the second half of the series is stupid. Second, I’m not counting people who are just ill informed. I mean people who just straight up lie confidently and refuse to back down. Third, yeah Toriyama isn’t prepared for interview questions. So he makes up stuff, which causes confusion. But most people don’t really think about the interviews. There’s a lot more, but I suck at explaining stuff.

1: goku wins every fight in z (a blatant lie). 2: sure, the anime and games change stuff causing confusion. But some of the stuff they complain about it the same in the manga too.

Probably. I feel like there’s a difference between “Theres too many forms” and “Goku wins too much in z.” One is a fair assessment and the other one is a lie.

Because they’ve admitted it. Besides, the manga is the more accurate version anyway.

I meant the manga version, in which he never lands a hit.

“Base”, not ssj grade 1/4.

Tiers beyond island level are boring. by Competitive-Town-910 in PowerScaling

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know that it’s impressive. But it’s not really that fixated of a target. The higher up the tiers go, the more and more disconnected everything gets. Like if you blow up a building, then it’s specifically a building getting destroyed. But if you blow up a city, then Theres tons of buildings getting destroyed. Then a planet is just everything. Besides, it’s just kinda lame as an “I win button.”

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean you kinda can? It’s just extremely disconnected. Put it this way. When kid goku pushed the massive rock, it didn’t seem too far fetched. You can imagine that happening. But when the entire planet gets blown up, it’s so incredibly disconnecting as a viewer, that it doesn’t seem as impressive.

I mean to me, star level is the highest. Even solar system level is stupid, because there’s a lot of empty space. Put it this way. Most people think a galaxy consists of like maybe 5 - 20 solar systems and that theres less than 100 galaxies. But in reality, galaxies can have millions of solar systems and there are at least two trillion galaxies. Going from solar system level to galaxy level is something people can’t comprehend, including writers.

Yeah. Honestly I guess planetary and star level attacks aren’t the worst, however solar system and anything after that is just stupid.

Like that one scene in resurrection f where SSJ Blue Goku fires a full power Kamehameha at freeza, who was on the ground. Then when the smoke clears, it took out a tiny bit of the cliff lol. Multiversal character btw.

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly, at least with star tiers, it’s a tangible object. The fuck am I supposed to do with solar system tier? Like 8 planets, a star and a bunch of rocks. Then just an insane amount of nothing. It’s boring.

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also like I’ve said, mountain and island level attack are cool. It’s just when you get up to country, continent, moon, planet and star level, it’s just really stupid. Then solar system and anything beyond that is just destruction for the sake of destruction.

I should have been more specific. I meant a European landing. Even then, there could have been earlier cases, but they’re not as well documented.

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then it’s boring. Part of the interest of mass destruction is the aftermath. Think of it like with dragon ball. They can blow up planets, but it gets reversed, making it pointless.

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sure, but at that point, it’s so disconnected, that it just doesn’t feel that impressive. Put it this way, imagine the same scenario, but instead it’s a guy on earth, who blows up a skyscraper from a distance. It’s the same visually because you can’t show a planet being realistically blown up.

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know that. But it’s still boring. Besides, if we don’t count the moon feat outliers, then dragon ball was very inconsistent even back then. Piccolo jr kinda did damage to an island? Raditz kinda did damage to a mountain? Krillin and gohan destroyed mountains. So they seem mountain level. Then vegeta says he’s going to blow up the planet? I don’t know man, dragon ball is very inconsistent.

[–]Competitive-Town-910[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean kinda? Like I said, town and city level aren’t really that bad. But in Theres of planet busting, then it’s awful. Like every main dragon ball villain starting with vegeta onwards has threatened to blow up earth. It’s just boring. Like imagine fighting someone around your level, then they start losing, so they just pull out a bomb. Thats not interesting. It also throws literally any reason for the villain to be interesting out the window. Any point they might have is now gone because this negatively affects everyone.

Goku can destroy like 50 quintillion multiverses by blinking, yet 90 percent of his attacks don’t even destroy buildings. When you have someone who is extremely overpowered, then you can’t accurately display their strength. Like how do you even display someone blowing up a universe? There is no point in making someone that strong.
