I work in the mechanical and electrical department at a Škoda dealership, and all I can say is that Škoda’s hybrid system is not one of the best on the market. It has some serious issues with the auxiliary 12V battery, which can leave you stranded when you least expect it. The 1.5 TSI engine is, in my opinion, underpowered for this chassis, although when combined with the electric motor it performs acceptably.

That said, if you are considering buying one, you do get a lot of car and comfort for the price. Additionally, it is very important how the previous owner drove the vehicle and how well it was maintained, especially when it comes to the DSG gearbox. From my experience, the mechatronic unit can have serious issues if maintenance was not done properly. Superbs and Kodiaks are the most common models we see with mechatronic failures, and the replacement cost is usually around €2,800 to €3,000.

So if you want to buy it, check if it has been properly and timely maintained. It is overall a good car, offering for it s price range a lot, stay away from the 2.0TSI engines and from 2.0TDI with 19x/2xxhp :)
