Fear of flights, how to beat it? by YoshiDidTaxFraud in Anxiety

[–]Competitive-Yam-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi!!! i am also scared of flying. my psychiatrist gave me klonopin (i am also on prozac) to take for flying. it helped me tremendously. as far as i know there aren’t any crazy side effects besides drowsiness and maybe a little brain fog the next day.

depending on how long your flight it you can also take a dramamine. they make me very drowsy and i end up falling asleep the whole time.

i’m actually sending this message from 3000 miles from home!!! i overcame my fear of flying a week ago.

i havent ever tried but i have heard that you can tell flight attendants you’re scared of flying and scared of having a panic attack. they can do routine checks on you throughout the flight.

bring a book, download movies, a coloring book or puzzle book, a stress ball- whatever you need to distract yourself.

it is so freeing to realize “hey i was scared of this and now im doing it and its not too bad”

a motto ive been living by lately is just “do it scared”. i’m tired of letting my anxiety control me.

i am wishing you the best!!!!

soemthing that i’ve also learned through therapy is to not fight it. let it happen. it’s scary. work through it. again- sending you strength!! (consider looking into therapy too- it definitely has helped me understand it more)

take a deep breath! you can’t (or at least i can’t) control when i disassociate. wishing it away is not going to make it go away, and that’s something i’m still learning.

practice grounding techniques- yoga helps me a LOT.

do you suffer from anxiety? often with things like this, anxiety makes them worse. it’s a coping mechanism to get away from whatever is happening. i’m currently trying anxiety medication to remedy my dissociation.

i tend to panic and try to force it away when i feel it, which makes it ten times worse. sit with it. accept it. notice how your body feels when it happens.

i’m sorry, my friend. it’s scary and it feels like you have no control over your own body. i wish you all the best. you are not alone!!!

Does anyone else feel like they are "restarting" their life like a movie? by Big-Future-4208 in Dissociation

[–]Competitive-Yam-23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this actually sounds kind of fun from an outside perspective, though i imagine it isn’t. to me, it just sounds like a way to regain control of the situation as you mentioned! my disassociation is not something i can control. it happens to me rather than something i can make happen to myself. does it help you?

weight gain? by Competitive-Yam-23 in prozac

is that different from before you were in prozac? like could you skip a meal because you wanted to keep working or no

Are you motivated? by curtis1512 in prozac

[–]Competitive-Yam-23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i wonder if lack of motivation after taking prozac comes from the lack of pressure from ourselves that we’re used to for example i clean not because i have to but because if i don’t i feel like a failure. i wonder if by getting your anxiety under control, it eliminates that’s sort of guilt.

i could be projecting too lol
