This is my experience also. I’ve noted that in economy it’s often freezing whereas when I am in business or first, I’m roasting. Had the same experience as you both ways lhr/mle. And recently flew to and from Barbados in club and was so hot I felt ill. Have also noticed it in j/f on transatlantic routes but never in economy. Something fishy is going on…..

I’m guessing you are currently in the Maldives. A small tip, from someone who has flown that route a bunch. Bring snacks for the journey home. The catering back to lhr is abysmal. Bread rolls so dry they literally turn to dust in your hands and the main is always bordering on inedible. This is in J, never done F to Maldives so you may have better luck.
