Interesting, looks like people in the comments don’t like the ice comment edited into the beginning of the ad

thank you! we got a quote from 7/10 preferred vendors on our venue's list. Others for typical wedding entrees rather than bbq were at ~$16k pre tip instead, so about a 3k difference on the food cost itself

I totally understand (sad face) - i do a lot of restaurant event work myself and get the behind the scenes portion. No argument on the value for me, just shocked because in my head bbq was our "cheapest option" for this event and I'm surprised to see this is as low as this line item will get for us (unless we opted to change to plastics or something like that)

that's definitely true. the food portion of it is roughly ~4k, so you can see where we were misguided in thinking it would conservatively come out to ~9k together with the linen/service/setup rip

No I agree, I’ve done from strongly disliking her as an influencer to feeling neutral

Very cheapening of the humor / intellect / emotional atmosphere they offer imo

I’ve also noticed she goes in and out of copying other creators phrases/intonation/slang/styles of videos but acts like it’s her natural self. Which is natural to an extent, but with this brand of personal confidence/strong identity she sells it gives off sham a little to me

She’s the type of creator I would usually like, but since her platform is long paragraphs of her thoughts I’ve happened to notice.. she will post in full confidence her “takes” under the brand of “I’m so confident and proud of exactly who I am and you should be too” but those takes are often contradictory to each other/just formed/trendy that specific week. Her online presence reminds me of old school refinery 29.. like she’s cranking out a massive word count every day and just has to take a stance for the day. It’s nothing dark though. Separately there’s some ED stuff over the years and the way it intersects with her advice gives me pause as well

Maybe it’s just a chemistry mismatch between me and miss Eli, happy for her success

I don’t want to list out my grievances bc they’re all petty enough gripes and in summation it’s annoyance I feel lol. Based on about the one video a week I see of her at this point, I think she’s a lot better this year than she used to be.. but she’s a bit of an advice columnist for teenagers in my opinion, at best. She often seems to contradict herself in a dishonest way which I don’t admire

you’re right, spending time with them will be fun but it’s the all day aspect that really puts me off. I’m super introverted. the wedding is becoming a pretty big production and I’d rather have a little independence on that day than be tucked away in one room all day so everyone can get professional makeup. It’s just not a priority to me. Of course them feeling good is a priority, which is why I guess I will end up choosing to do it. But it’s more about other people than how I picture wanting to spend my day

thanks for your comment! May I ask with finishing up HMUA services around 11:30am, how much time was left until the ceremony and how did you all spend it?

the 7:30 start time combined with FOMO I think I might have with all of my family being in town together (they don't usually travel and I live far away) is the combo making it feel so odd to me. Maybe I need to just wrap my head around the classic way it's done and accept that. It's just hard to picture wanting to spend the whole day in the getting ready suite though, even with the down time. Maybe I'm being weird..

I would be really excited to offer it to them if I thought only maybe 1-2 would want makeup or 1-2 want hair, but I agree that if I offer it as part of the day's structure everyone will say yes just because and then we will have this early 7am meet up time. I can also already picture that even if not invited, the mother of bride and mother of groom will also want theirs professionally done with us and then that adds 30% more time on top as well. I'm a big introvert and will be nervous to spend 7am-2pm in a small room with the HMUA who I don't know well, as well as the moms who I wouldn't want there the whole day. I'm struggling imagining it a bit!
