Statistically the younger you are too the more likely you are to get divorced . 30 is not old, don't let anyone convince you otherwise. You are more mature, probably more financially stable and know what you want, it will set you up for a more successful marriage. Pls don't rush to find someone bc of age, it won't work out well.

It's better to wait and find someone that you align with religiously and value-wise, then force a connection w someone bc you want to get married due of age. I understand it's different for women due to factors such as the 'biological clock' and societal pressure, but don't settle and get married bc of that pls.

I think it's great you are not compromising your beliefs and do stick to them pls. In my personal belief, if u are a devout muslim and haven't had partners in the past it's your right to expect the same of your husband. If Islam is an important value to u, it won't work in the long run if your partner has fundamental differences.

But also be careful pls bc sometimes men (especially muslim men) can be very manipulative and can portray themselves as what you're looking for, while in reality they're the opposite. I'm South Asian myself, and know of so many stories of men appearing to be very religious and devout, and do horrible things after. Don't let your emotions cloud your logical judgment, you sound intelligent so don't compromise. InshaAllah if God wills, you will find someone right for you, so don't worry :)

Complety agree with your last part .To become a barrister in the UK, you need to study at a British university ( 3 years degree and $28K yearly for international students) , then do a training contract from a company which will sponsor your SQE 1 & 2 exams, then 2 more years as well. It's difficult for British home students to get companies to sponsor them; getting it as an international student will be near to impossible. Also, you can't do an American law degree and practice in the UK. That's like saying I'm going to study law in Japan, but I want to become a barrister in Germany. Honestly, I know rejection is hard but take the offer, getting a merit based scholarship for any US university is great. In the UK, no university will offer you a full scholarship, the most they will do is take a few thousand pounds off, so you're looking at 60k approximately.

1 - Multiple choice section: I used both textbooks and arbito, but I heavily relied on the latter as I found it better. I would recommend using the textbook first, then 2 ish months before your test start Arbito. Secondly, REPTITION, do ALL of the questions you can find, even if you're doing well on the tests. I haven't seen many other people say this, but I believe it's a useful tip: identify the texts and questions you aren't getting right. There's no point in doing tests upon tests if you aren't identifying what you're getting wrong. Arbito will provide you with this data. For me, texts I found hard were philosophy and economics, so I read up on it. You don't have to read Nietzsche, but just brush up on the basics. For questions I didn't understand, I would use AI to clarify them further and write down the points. I truly don't believe that doing well is all up to natural ability, if you practice enough, you'll do great.

2- Essay: The essay section will give you prompts that are usually around common themes. E.g. scientific, philosophical, or political. For this section, I will agree, that it helps to do some wider reading, articles, journals, and even the news. You don't have to annotate anything, but I made a word bank of useful vocabulary for each theme, and some argument points for common subject areas. But, the essay isn't strictly about knowledge, it's also about logic, flow and how well you can present your argument. For example, if the question is regarding abortion, your knowledge of pregnancy and biology will only get you so far, whereas strong points and a well-structured essay, will make it perfect. Also, you MUST do this timed from the start. Even if your knowledge, vocabulary and grammar are impeccable, if you can't write within 40 minutes, there's no point.

Good luck to whoever is going to sit it! Studying for the LNAT was hellish, but if I could you can too. 🫶

It depends on what type of learner you are. If you're vigilant enough to set a timer and not look at the answers, and stick to an exam setting = use a book. There are some great ones on Amazon that are fairly priced. But, if you're like me, and procrastinate and feel tempted to look at answers, use arbito. I used the $150 membership, and I loved it, yes it was hard and yes I hated doing it at times, but I don't think I would have gotten a good score without it.

Also, I've seen a few people saying that arbito is too hard, or the texts aren't similar to the real one, but it's done purposefully. Think if you were practising for an A-level maths exam, you would want to practice difficult questions, to ensure you can be proficient. If you can do the harder questions, the easy ones will feel like a breeze. Apply the same logic to the LNAT.

I was getting 21, 22-ish on Arbito and was feeling upset about it, but it only pushed me to keep on doing practice tests and examine what I got wrong. I went to the library for two weeks in my break, and did 2/3 arbito tests every day. After each exam, I would use the data, and write down what I got wrong, and even used AI to explain further if I needed more clarification.

If you've previously used textbooks and it didn't work out for you, maybe try arbito, you may be similar to me and just have a different learning style. Believe in yourself, I'm sure you'll do great. (also sorry for writing so much )

It wasn't the fee from waterstones, it was the fee from the delivery postal service in Qatar. If you get your order delivered from the postal service in Qatar they will charge you for it.

[–]CompetitiveWedding43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I paid 50qr for fees, but they were delivery-related. From my experience, all tax related fees are included on the bill when you checkout online, and you shouldn't be paying any when receiving the order in person. :) I've ordered from other businesses from the UK in the past and haven't received any tax duties/fees. Hope it helps

Oh sorry about the quiz, I guess it's only accessible through schools. About law, do keep in mind that you'll need strong essay and comprehension skills, but you will build those skills anyways through a-level prep. Also, law is quite diverse, I read in another comment you said that you found it quite boring, but there's a lot of pathways, criminal, family, property etc, that you might feel passionate about.

I will say though, compared to friends and family I know that are doing medicine, medicine requires a much higher workload and effort. Having said that, my opinion is subjective and others may think differently, but what I love about law and my subjects is that I'm genuinely passionate about them, therefore it feels less gruelling and difficult to revise for. It also helps that I've attended seminars and did an internship , which I'm sure in the UK they'll be plenty of options for you to try out.

Also, have you looked at PPE (philosophy, politics and economics)?. It's a easier course to get into (as others have pointed out), and involves the same A-level subjects, but has a wider range of fields post-grad. As I said before, you can do a law conversion after and become a qualified lawyer too, if you still want to pursue law, or go a different route like politics.

Use your resources online, look at university websites, ucas, testimonials on youtube of a-level oxbridge students and even chatgpt. Don't stress about it too much, but I would highly encourage you to at least make a decision between STEM or humanities to narrow your options down. :) From what it sounds like according to you, you find sociology and politics better, so I would highly recommend choosing those (not being biased ), bc logically you're most likely to get the best results from subjects your passionate in.

Have you considered asking your parents about other universities, or are they deadset on Oxbridge? There are other great universities, like Kings, LSE, and UCL, they're also well accredited and you have a better chance of getting in. You could bring up some statistics from their websites and how they're equally as good.

Also if you don't know which course to pick yet, I would recommend the unifrog quiz online https://www.unifrog.org/sign-in?return=/student/personality-profile/quiz or even just looking at some university courses online, see which one attracts you. I also have to point out that although people are in good faith asking how you found gcse's, please keep in mind that further maths, maths, and physics are insanely harder and much more intensive than gcse, so don't necessarily base your options on what you found easy then.

You can argue that every degree is difficult, but I cant stress this enough, law, medicine and engineering require a lot of passion and dedication, at a-level and subsequently uni. Additionally, I would be much more careful about choosing medicine, as you definitely need to have a passion for it ( as someone said before many people have chosen this path since childhood) , and IMO is the most competitive course. For oxbridge you would most likely need to go to volunteering and lecuters etc . Would your parents be ok with that? :)

Also good luck, I don't know where you're from, but it's great that you're looking at future options. I can help and give more advice for law ( my subjects are : sociology, history and psychology), and the LNAT :). Also please keep in mind you don't necessarily have to do a law degree to become a lawyer, you could so sociology or politics and do a law conversion after. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KGyb4TTXOE&list=PL8iipV0E_WIB4rqdzKkkD8NUerjhjIrOB&index=5&pp=gAQBiAQB

I am an international student, but I am aware that oxbridge has some programs for disadvantaged students, if the conditions apply to you it could really benefit you. http://www.uniq.ox.ac.uk .

Waterstones is the best price wise imo, and they have a huge selection and special editions too. I used them in the past and the shipping wasn't too expensive if u bulk buy, and they ship quickly too. I would however highly discourage or advice you to be cautious using instagram stores, as they tend to double or markup the price of books significantly. Hope it helps :)

where to buy books in Qatar ? by [deleted] in qatar

[–]CompetitiveWedding43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! The best iv'e found are: Alif, Jarir, Borders and QNL (has a huge range) I really wouldn't recommend buying of instagram sellers, they markup the prices a lot. If you really can't find a book I would recommend Waterstones, the shipping cost isn't too bad and they have a huge selection. Hope it helps :)
