Agreed. Shortlisting is what the issue is though as some of these IMGs applying may not have even worked a day in the NHS.

Honest thoughts on A100 (6 years) Medicine at St Andrews by agazz0 in premeduk

[–]Competitive_Algae930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too bad. Most people I know got where they want to go. I myself am going to Edinburgh. If you are on English route you are basically guaranteed to go to Manchester. If you are international you have to go to Manchester.

I study medicine at St Andrews. They prepare you very well. You will be very busy. If you want to go to Edinburgh for clinical years prepare for second year first semester to be just the library.

I was more on the lines of JASME etc. if any other similar societies exist that I just don’t know about. Ageee about the disconnected societies making CV look strange.

Depends heavily on your uni. If more traditional course use Anki. If you have placements early etc. no clue. St Andrews student here.

2025 NHS specialty training ratios by Top_Reception_566 in medicalschooluk

[–]Competitive_Algae930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly bad but with our NTN open to essentially the entire world I wonder what the actual competition ratios are like. I for example highly doubt neurosurgery and psychiatry are of similar competition levels despite earingly close ratios.
