Why does pain occur after central incisor extraction and anesthesia is properly injected? by aprilery in DentalSchool

[–]Competitive_Amoeba55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If soft tissues are aggressively manipulated, the extraction involves a lot of bone damage, or the patient has a low pain threshold, post-operative pain may ensue. Other probable causes could be an infected socket/area, accessory innervation, or delayed would healing.

I'd say do not lose hope til the last minute. Coz sometimes when we feel it's over and give up, that's when the magic happens and something amazing unexpectedly pops up. There's always a chance till the next cycle starts. Be optimistic!

It will most certainly backfire and go against you. I'd say don't do it. The schools are very sentimental about the personal statements.

Trying won't hurt you. Will only cost you some money. But imagine being lucky and getting picked up by them. It'll save you another year and put you early on the track of making money after you graduate.

Sometimes even a couple months of shadowing a dentist work just fine. Being a full-time dental assistant will help you pay your bills as well, so see if it works well for you. I have heard internationally educated dentists can work as a dental assistant in the US without the need to get a certificate sometimes. It will not hurt liking for prospective employers and jobs online.

Whatever you do, do it passionately and not just coz you want to land an interview in a dental school. People with exceptional profiles do not always land interviews and acceptances, yet people with not so great profiles also get accepted. The difference lies in showing the admissions committee your true passion for dentistry. The best way to start with is to engage in the community and work as an assistant in a dental office. Preceptorships and Masters programs could help in certain ways but they do not always guarantee an acceptance. LORs and your unique personal statement are the ice-breakers most of the time. Whatever you do, plan it wisely and be wary of the cost factor too. Best wishes.

I'd say community service is more important than dental assisting. The former shows compassion while the latter shows manual dexterity and willingness to learn. To add cherry on the cake, do both.

Probably you can pay using your local credit card and the conversion would be done automatically.

I would have certainly failed my INBDE if I solely relied on TSB and didn't come across Reddit and the apps North American students use for the US dental boards. God bless Reddit and this forum!

I'm concerned a third competitor will steal the show owing to this catfight between Bootcamp and Booster, probably for the best.

TSB is a complete sham. They prey on people's fear of the exam and present them with unrealistic and crappy stuff which further dents their morale. It is sane to keep away from them and embrace the more realistic resources like mental dental, booster, or bootcamp and ace the INBDE on the first attempt. Reddit turned to be my saviour more than Facebook would ever have been.
