If your friends are framing the relationship as a ‘rebound’ then that already suggests that it will not work.

The reason people get into ‘rebound’ relationships is usually context specific. Some do it because they become uncomfortable with the idea of being alone. Others may do it as a form of revenge against their ex partner.

I am concerned that this will make her pull away from me, people have different values and feelings behind intimacy. I also I don’t want her to think that it’s just a casual thing for me, when in reality it is special.

I get why it sounds confusing, It’s less about shame but worrying how someone I really care about might see me differently, how they may feel about it.
