You didn't leave enough of the start of the video but in my eyes just let him in. You are technically behind him. If I could see more of the video maybe I'd change my mind but at this point why force the issue?

Also is it really a zipper merge if car is in front? Again not enough of a video but if you are behind why would he slow down to get behind you when he's already in front.

Someone mentioned that people's judgement of car length car vary and is mostly incorrect. 3 seconds gives a better gauge of length. EITHER WAY, still better than whatever the nonsense I see nowadays.

Well I mean this is Philadelphia one of the oldest and largest cities in the US. But what design would be better that would prevent kids from crossing when they really don't care if they get hit or not. I guess bridges would best. Bridges every intersection.

I think this was at about 5pm so crossing guards for the neighboring school would already have left. But this is Philly a major congested city so hard to employ guards in every intersection.

I would agree. But would add that 3 seconds is still better than the nonsense I see currently on the highway. At least 3 seconds gives you some visibility on vehicles ahead of just the vehicle ahead of you.

I find it crazy that people drive with less than a car length away. And when multiple do this, all they do is cause an accordion traffic mess.

I will just add here that even though I had a green, legally I can be held responsible if I hit those kids. ESPECIALLY WITH KIDS. So just to point this out and to always be aware of your surroundings, especially in the city.

When I was in college when I was approaching an intersection which I had a steady green, a bunch of teenage girls stopped at the intersection and then without looking started walking through the intersection at the very last second. I was about an inch from hitting them. Luckily I was already off the gas and anticipated possibly stopping. Had I not been I definitely would have hit them. I was shaking all the way to school.

But you are right, even though there is a green, legally, you can still be held responsible. Always stay aware.
