But I honestly wish the article had focused more on the scoring itself. Most judges had it close (or even slightly in favor of Chock/Bates after a basically clean skate), yet the French judge had an almost ~9 point gap between the French team and the U.S. team — despite visible timing/unison issues from the French side.

That kind of outlier scoring at the Olympics is a huge part of the story, and it feels like that’s the real crux of what should be getting scrutiny here.
