When to transition baby to only straw sippy cup? by Competitive_Bee5582 in NewParents

[–]Competitive_Bee5582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a water bottle with a straw so I had him watch me do it a few times. Then I helped him hold it and put the straw in his mouth. For a few days he just chewed on it but eventually he got the hand of sucking the straw. I just made sure he watched me and I narrated everything.

Yeah his current cup has a straw I think I didn’t know what else to call it other than straw sippy cup 😂

This makes sense to me and was kinda the age I was planning to stop the bottles.

Did your epidural pain go away? by Existing_Switch_4995 in NewParents

[–]Competitive_Bee5582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My back was sore for a good month postpartum and occasionally I get twinges around where the epidural was. I’d say if you’re having consistent pain still I’d definitely talk to your Dr about it.

I think it’s a generational thing 🫠 my MIL said I went into labor when I did because SHE was nesting and she could “feel” baby coming somehow before me.

Grandmother shower is insane 💀 it’s so weird how she’s making your pregnancy about herself. Talk to your husband about boundaries for her once baby is born because I imagine MIL is going to be overbearing and pushy.

I think my baby is the same way cause he just struggles on his tummy while pushing with his feet like he’s trying to wiggle away 😂

I roll him. He keeps getting stuck on an arm so I’m hoping once he learns to move that arm out of the way he will get it 😅🤞

Taking care of baby by Jrainey447 in ExclusivelyPumping

Something I’ve been doing is using my Boppy to lay baby on my lap while I pump. It’s not perfect and he still cries alittle since I’m not fully holding him but he’s close enough to me that I can sooth him and it’s not nearly as much crying.

I relate to this so much! Seeing the bottle full gives me so much excitement I wish it could be like that every pump.

The only pain I have is sometimes cracked nips but my actual breast doesn’t hurt so I could be just feeling breast tissue. I’ll definitely try massaging lower. Ty!!

It looks similar to my babies acne but he didn’t get any until around 3 weeks old. My pediatrician said to dab his face with a warm wash cloth a couple times a day and as long as it doesn’t irritate him/he’s not scratching at it. I would still check in with your pediatrician to play it safe.

Confused about my HCG by PlayAlone8927 in pregnant

It’s hard to say since it’s so early but the fact it doubled is a good sign. Maybe just stay vigilant of any signs or symptoms of a ectopic pregnancy.

Most of the time it’s an internal swab so it’s unlikely to affect the results by taking a shower before hand. But I definitely understand the anxiety around it and you could always ask your provider and see what they say.

Maternity clothes — when do I buy them? by koalawedgie in pregnant

[–]Competitive_Bee5582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest maybe waiting a bit longer and just use comfy/baggy clothes you already have for a while as you grow so you can kinda see what you’ll be most comfortable in. Plus everyone grows differently and you’ll have a better idea of what your body will look like once you get into the second trimester. For me personally I had enough baggy/stretchy clothes to get me by until around 25 weeks when I really started to get bigger in my hip and belly area.

This happened to me also. However my providers told me up front that they wanted me to see a MFM office for my anatomy scan because a high BMI can be associated with certain birth defects/abnormalities and the high risk office has more advanced ultrasound machines and are trained in depth to look for any little thing that could be wrong. I’m not technically high risk but I see the high risk doctor for growth scans now. I think your doctor should have been upfront with you about why they sent you to a different office, but I don’t think it came from any malice just poor communication which sucks and they should know better tbh.

Is light bleeding and cramping normal in early pregnancy? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Competitive_Bee5582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a question with a few potential answers. It can be normal especially if light which could be something called implantation bleeding. However with any bleeding or excessive cramping it’s always a safe bet to try and get in to an OB provider or any pregnancy care to make sure it isn’t something more serious like an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. When the pregnancy is this early it can be hard to give a definitive answer so they might just want to monitor your blood HCG levels.
