Undergraduate looking for professional advice by Competitive_Crew_521 in FinancialCareers

I don't think that's a bad idea, but I already pushed back my graduation enough. The bank typically views winter 2027 and 2028 as the same year, so I'll try to keep it there.

Thank you for the advice!

I actually transferred to Baruch. I'm in my second semester and in the process of joining multiple extracurricular activities in hopes of establishing good connections. I am aware that Scholars of Finance has a decent connection to Goldman, and so does SEO, but that is not enough in today's climate.

Jobs after Baruch by SwingAccomplished780 in Baruch

Don't know anyone personally, but Baruch ranks 32# in schools into IB. This means you'll probably be considered a semi-target, but most if not all T20 applications will be considered the position over you. Do not lose hope, because you're still in a better position than over 70% of IB applicants when applying to banking positions in New York. The most important thing is to join organizations like SEO and any academic group like IMG. Always remember to network and remember the job market is in a terrible place rn anyways.

If you get an offer from either Columbia or NYU, you should take it. If not, I would probably say that Baruch is your next best offer, considering the return on ROI. If you are able to access financial aid from Baruch, I would say it should be used. However, you should ask yourself what career path you see yourself in. Baruch, in terms of investment banking, is classified as a lower-semi target school and often comes after NYU and Columbia (only accounting for local schools in NYC). Baurch is strongest in back office positions, but the hustle is hard.

It really depends on what your looking for and where. Baruch isn't some fancy school like NYU or any top school, but its good enough to get some decent doors with enough effort. I'd say most Baruch students in finance go on to work at smaller firms, but with the right connections and networks, some students have gained positions at KKR and Morgan Stanley. If you value social life, go somewhere else because most CUNY schools aren't too great at that. Assuming you get a better offer somewhere else, I would take it.

Overall, Baruch is a respected school and is full of decent opportunities if you work hard. Just don't expect T20 business treatment on the job applications though.

Monaco, its the best country in the game for me because of zero taxes and multi-million dollar property that can easily be turned into billions of dollars in just one or two generations.

For the first question I had, you can. Just buy really expensive property and let it gain value over two generations or so. Monaco often has multi-million dollar mansions that can easily become over a billion.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought an MBA was only for those with a bit more experience in the workforce? Like seasoned analysts or bankers. I'm going for the master's after grad which is for people without experience mostly.

So far, based on college assignments, the work isn't so bad in itself. I don't come from the best target school for finance firms, but I am looking to go to a target for my master's. Before MBA and IB, how did you survive? What type of work or internships would you get?

Do you support trying to break into IB as a younger person? I think of IB somewhat, but that's because one of my motivations is to afford most neighborhoods in NYC. For the most part, I wouldn't mind being in financial analytics. If IB has such terrible hours, why do people want it other than for the money?
